Obama on the Trillion Dollar Coin

My local new is floating the Trillion Dollar Coin now... Of course, the one i saw on the news had Obama on the front of it.

I wonder who is producing these news segments. There's no way the station made this segment themselves, even though they narrated it.

I don't know about you guys but I want his face on the Trillion dollar coin. It will be as worthless as his ideas. Plus I want his face to be the poster of what not to do. This is the most worthless idea ever divised and it should have his and Krugmans name all over it. Maybe a picture of Obama and Krugman in a pose where they are kissing each others asses should adourn both sides of the coin.

Obama's face isn't the one I had in mind...

Can't we have a thousand dollar coin first? A trillion dollar coin? Surely this is a joke.

Well, who is pushing this enough that they're creating ready-to-use news segments complete with a coin design? That's what I want to know. Of course it is stupid, but who's pushing it hard enough to produce news segments?

The story was on CNN a week ago. Your local news is probably just using that.

you know how big glitches by the mint send coin collectors into a bidding frenzy? if BHO's team now functions
like good auld Chicago, expect a ton of glitches on a million coin set of pure platinum $100,000.oo coins and
a system in place that siphons them to the public at large as occasional "accidents" lacking a deliberarteness!

That was the coin design, but not the same segment or narrative. Thanks for posting it.

Wow are these people stupid... And the vid you posted at least held some lame opposing views. The segment I saw didn't assault me with a pic of Nadler, and was so light on criticism, it was more like a small infomercial of "we found the solution!"

I haven't seen any comments from Obama on it.

    Today's New York Times:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/10/bu...ests.html?_r=0
But what seemed an absurd idea has transformed into a politically actionable one — even though no member of the Obama administration has endorsed it — and it has set off a political firestorm.
The National Republican Congressional Committee, which mocked up a fake trillion-dollar coin with President Obama’s face on it, noted the absurdity of the idea by saying that the amount of platinum it would take to mint a trillion-dollar coin would sink the Titanic.

(A technical point, but a relevant one: such a coin would not need to contain a trillion dollars’ worth of platinum.)

The decision is pending with the Obama administration, and the Treasury Department said it had no further comment. But when asked at the White House news conference if anyone in the administration was examining using the coin to get around the ceiling, Mr. Carney responded, “Not that I know of.”

I saw this idea being talked about this morning on MSNBC and as they were saying, if a $1 trillion coin is good, why not a $20 trillion coin to pay off the whole debt. In fact why don't we just make a couple of these coins and do away with the federal income tax? What a wonderful way to help all Americans, we eliminate the federal income tax and just let the government just create coins to pay for all of the spending. Its a fool proof plan, all of the politicians get to spend on their pet projects and we don't have to pay for any of it... I mean, what could go wrong?
