I think it would be simple enough to let the people who live on the Falkland Is. decide what they want to be. Someone mentioned Gibraltar and that's pretty much the same issue. Even if Argentina was successful in taking the Falklands (not likely), they'd still have to contend with an unhappy and possibly unruly population with closer ties to Britain.
Whether the British or the Argentinian governments want to lay claim to the Falklands is really irrelevant. It's really what the people on the islands want, which is important.
If something bad happens, we will be blamed. If something good happens, we will get no credit. If nothing happens, we will be forgotten.
