Thumbs down W.H. considers broad gun control

    http://news.yahoo.com/white-house-mu...--finance.html

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House is weighing a far broader approach to curbing U.S. gun violence than just reinstating a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

A working group led by Vice President Joseph Biden is seriously considering measures that would require universal background checks for gun buyers and track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, the newspaper said.

The measures would also strengthen mental health checks and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the Post said. The approach is backed by law enforcement leaders, it said.

President Barack Obama assigned Biden the job of designing the strategy after the massacre at a Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school last month that killed 20 children and six adults.

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association (NRA), the powerful gun lobby.

They include rallying support from Wal-Mart Stores Inc and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses, the Post said

    universal background checks and tracking....

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!

Ok, has anyone promoting these laws actually demonstrated how they would have stopped even one death in Connecticut? It seems to be driven exclusively by emotion; feel good laws, if you will.

And why the hell isn't Obama holding himself to such loftly standards? Considering the US government is the largest weapons purchaser and exporter on the planet, they should be the first to comply.

The NRA is really the only thing standing in the way. But to call them a gun lobby is a misnomer. They are a hunting lobby.

GOA does its best but unfortunately their best is not going to be good enough. This $#@! is going to pass eventually. If not now, then after the next exploitable tragedy. (Or engineered tragedy, as Sandy Hook very well could be)

Be ready. If you don't have a good supply of food now, buy that now. When the time for action comes, you don't want to be thinking with your stomach.

To steal an excerpt from thechickenshavehadenough:

"....A right, as in the right to possess firearms, is not a privilege; it is not up for debate in the congress; it is not addressable by the congress at all, though they don't want you to understand that. A right is something you own, like your hair or your kidney. Once we start talking about what the government is going to allow, we lose everything, because we have diminished the stature of the right. To ask if I have the right to firearms is to ask if I have a right to my finger. What would be your response if a police officer approached you and asked to cut your finger off? Not the same as you would if he asked to see your permit to carry a weapon and that is the problem..."

The most important word to remember in the future is simply “No.”
    No more steps back.
No more cowering in a corner hoping any legislative action passes us by.
    No more compromise.
You don’t have to make a big deal about it and beat your chest for everyone to see (something I’ll address in a later post)- just decide, by yourself, for yourself. That’s it.
As the saying goes, “secession of the mind happens before secession of the body.”

The only thing they have demonstrated, and needed to demonstrate, and desire to demonstrate, is that they want to take your rights. Period. End of story.

Your individual rights are an affront to everything they believe in. They would rape you of all your guns, and all your rights, and enslave you to the state, if you let them.

They don't need reasons to take your rights. They want to take your rights, for the sake of taking your rights.
