They can say what they want. The figures in <backwater>, USA don't follow.

    My county..

This is about as liberal assessment as I have seen. Well over 18% in my county. Well over.

Should be closing in on 7.0% even by the end of the year. The trend is good!

If you consider an unemployment check as being employed.

Ya, I'm curious if when the "unemployment rate" reaches 6.5% Bernanke will raise interest rates as he said he would. If rates are allowed to go up any significant amount, excess reserves will be dumped in a hurry, spiking massive instant inflation, causing loss of confidence in the dollar, and sending us in a spiral.

The interest rates are stuck near zero I think, for the remaining life of the dollar's history.

("unemployment rate" is in quotes because its obviously a bullshit made up number)
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

Since 2005 the unemployment rate in Hillsdale, Michigan has ranged from 6.2% in October 2005 to 19% in July 2009. The current unemployment rate for Hillsdale is 8.4% in September 2012. See how other local areas compare by using our Unemployment Compare tool.
If the unemployment number here dropped that sharply it's because people are fleeing this county. Probably to Indiana.

As for myself I'm an unemployed College Student. I'm not looking for work because there are no jobs here. This place is an economic disaster. I need to finish school, get my stupid diploma paper, and bug out of here.

This would never have been tolerated under a Bush Admin. Then again, the continuing of the wars wouldn't have either.

Numbers are set by the definition of those that set the formula.

If the government said tomorrow that unemployment was at 2% it wouldn't make it so. And national makes no difference when it comes to regional for an individual.
