Heading to the House floor now to vote in support of @repjustinamash's #NSA amendment.
    Ron DeSantis (R-FL 6):
I voted for the Amash amendment which would have defunded attempts by the NSA to engage in blanket data mining operations against American citizens. Under 215 of the PATRIOT Act, the government can obtain a court order for business records, such as phone records, if such records are relevant to an ongoing national security investigation. NSA has been obtaining orders directing phone carriers to produce all call records for all subscribers – even though there is no indication that 99.99% of these subscribers have anything to do with any investigation. As the author of Section 215, Jim Sensenbrenner, pointed out on the House floor, the NSA's actions go beyond the text and structure of the statute. The amendment failed in a close vote.
    Jeff Duncan (R-SC 3):
    Rep. Jeff Duncan ‏@RepJeffDuncan 34m

The delicate balance between security and privacy has been lost. I joined 205 of my colleagues in support of an amendment to stop the NSA's dragnet collection of data. If any of you see comments on Twitter by other representatives (including Democrat ones), post them below and I'll add them to the OP.

I'm not following a lot of Democrats, so I don't get their tweets, but if they voted correctly, they deserve to be commended in the OP.

    Chad Pergram ‏@ChadPergram 1m
Boehner on voting against the NSA amendment yesterday and why he voted, which is rare for the Speaker: Because I was opposed to it.

Gingrey voted against the amendment. Imagine if we could replace him with Barr...that would be awesome!

    Bob Barr Congress
The amendment sponsored by Rep. Justin Amash, to defund the unlawful and unconstitutional domestic surveillance by the NSA was an important step in the move to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans, and restore a sense of law in our country. The Amendment failed, but just barely. Rep. Amash continues a process I began in the late 90s to limit such actions by the government. I will take up this battle anew when I return to the Congress - BB ‪#‎barr‬

Andrew Walter is running for congress against Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) who voted against Amash Amendment. http://andrewwalter2014.com/

    Andrew Walter for Congress
One part to our nation's greatness is knowing that you do not have to live in fear of your government. Yesterday, the House voted on an amendment to limit the Nation Security Agency's ability to spy on law abiding citizens and their families. Disappointingly, it failed because of members like Kyrsten Sinema who support Washington-centered government programs. I refuse to accept this assault on liberty and pledge to stand up and fight against this gross overreach.

Bryan Smith (R-ID 02 CAND) released the following statement after RINO Rep. Mike Simpson's vote with Nancy Pelosi to continue the NSA spying:

    "For Immediate Release – July 25, 2013

Contact: Carrie Brown 208-538-9683 or carrie@bryansmithforcongress.com

Simpson Votes to Continue Government Secret Surveillance Programs

Idaho Falls – Yesterday, Congressman Mike Simpson voted against an amendment introduced by Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, which would have ended the intrusive federal government secret surveillance programs of the National Security Agency (NSA).

The amendment would have canceled the statutory authority for the NSA program, ending the agency’s ability to collect phone records and metadata under the USA Patriot Act unless it identified an individual under investigation.

“Yet again, Congressman Mike Simpson voted with liberal Democrats including Nancy Pelosi, instead of protecting the rights of the citizens of Idaho’s second congressional district. Those security programs were established under fear and are nothing more than another way the federal government intrudes into the private lives of American citizens,” says Bryan Smith." "

    Mike Assad
I am disappointed that Congressman LoBiondo voted to allow the NSA to continue spying on law abiding Americans.
