He'll be in Israel on Sunday and Monday where he'll give a speech on foreign aid then head to Jordan on Tuesday.

Hope they have a safe and productive trip with residual benefits coming to us via key early primary states.

I would laugh if he tells Israel they have to stand on their own two feet and that the U.S is broke and can't give them $3bn a year.

But I won't hold my breath.

I suspect he will likely suck their d*ck less than 99 other Senators though

This is a brilliant move. It will give him cover during the primary debates, otherwise Rubio would say, "Well, Senator Paul, have you ever been to the region?"

We can't allow Rubio to look like some foreign policy guru and Rand to look like some ivory tower academic scared to have his boots on the ground.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Ron was also pro-Israel. Why would Rand be any different?

I don't think Ron was pro-Israel on a personal level (although I don't agree with his view). Their political positions on Israel are virtually the same though, so I don't think how they feel personally about it really matters.

it will be interesting to see if Rand actually tries to solve a problem here since he's meeting both sides or whether he will just talk in vague terms.

Imagine if he was able to achieve something on the trip, he would win lots of plaudits.

He really needs to convince the israeli's to stop building on what is seen as PA land and try and work out a solution for a lasting peace.

Can you imagine if Rand negotiated a peace accord while he was there? He would be seen as the protector of Israel and hailed in the editorial section of the New York Slimes, plus he would upstage John Kerry
