I doubt this story is what it appears to be. My suspicion is that he knows something is going to happen in the future that he doesn't want to be a part of so we get this concocted story and he is out of the way.

I just read on another forum that Petraeus will not be testifying before Congress about Benghazi. I don't understand why his resignation would lead to him not testifying. Can't Congress subpeona him even if he is a private citizen?
My initial thought was..."Benghazi." Not saying he probably wasn't having an affair but this could have been covered up. It's not like there was any evidence leaked to the media...he just told on himself. I'm sure this is in the CIA playbook to the letter.

CIA Director Petraus was supposed to testify on Benghazi and according to Senate Intelligence Committee, he will no longer testify. How does that work? Why would having an affair, then stepping down prevent you from testifying? I think that is why they have something called subpeona power.
