National Flood Insurance Program Promotes Unsound Thinking and Investment??

It looks like Ron Paul is right yet again. Having this many people living in susceptible low sea level coastal areas is a result of government malfeasance.

Sure. N.C. had a brouhaha over raising rates across the state for those home owners that lived sea side. WTF? If it is yours you take responsibility for it.

Even with all the flood insurance subsidies and what not, I can't understand why anyone would want to own property near sea level to begin with.

Whenever I bought my first place, I had to carry flood insurance because the area flooded 92 years ago.

Fed flood insurance. Tax payer funded. Sure, you didn't need to pay what you should have. Neither did the insurers.
