Thread: The Men Who Built America - History Channel

Default The Men Who Built America - History Channel

Anyone catch episode 1? The whole series will focus on Vanderbuilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan, and Ford, with interviews of folks like Jack Welch along the way. Capitalist elephants dancing and all that.

I saw part of a replay. Fun to watch, I admit to not knowing much about these folks, though I do detect an editorial focus on the 'bloodthirstiness' of the competitive elite in the business world, and not highlighting the benefits of free-marketism for society as a whole.

Did they talk about Rockefellers and JP Morgans involvement in the creation of the Fed?

Haven't gotten to Morgan yet, just Vandy, Rockefeller, and hinted toward Carnegie. 4 episodes total, only the first one has aired.

I saw the trailers and they looked good! To me, this was probably the most interesting time in American history.

If you think Morgan was a dick for creating the Fed, you should see what he did to Nikola Tesla! Totally ruined the smartest man to ever live. And he just didn't ruin him, he destroyed him - and his legacy!

Thomas Alva Edison screwed Tesla over more than Morgan to be honest.
“Our illegal population alone exceeds the all the Irish, Jewish and British immigrants who came. Each year, we catch more people breaking in at the border than all the Swedes and Norwegians who came to America in 200 years. Half a million illegal aliens succeed in breaking in every year, more than all the Greeks or Poles who came legally from the Revolution to 1960..” - Patrick J. Buchanan

Not even close! Tesla defeated Edison. Know how you can tell? You're using AC power. No, when Morgan asked, "where do I put the meter" Tesla's work began to disappear. Investors were chased away, his reputation was destroyed, his wealth was removed, and his soul was cracked. I hope this special gets into these events, but somehow I doubt it.
