Let’s all stage similar events in our cities and towns all over the country in conjunction with the big fundraising drive on Boston Tea Party Day.

Saturday, December 16th: Santa Monica Tea Party!

We're having a tea party...a Boston Tea Party re-enactment Santa Monica 2007 style!

As we raise an unprecedented $10 Million (or more!) in a single day the media will be abuzz with the news as it develops. What an opportunity to reach people! Should we be hunkered behind our screens watching the total grow--or should we be out on the street celebrating and reaching people with the Freedom Message? You know the answer! Not only will we have a prime opportunity to share the excitement of the Ron Paul Revolution with the American people, we will also have a HUGE opportunity to get attention from local news media.

The Santa Monica Tea Party will start at the beginning of 3rd Street Promenade and will end at Santa Monica Pier. We will get wood crates and stencil them to symbolize that which we want to "throw overboard": "Big Government", "Welfare State", "Warfare State", "IRS", "Federal Reserve", "North American Union"...and so on. The crates can be creatively decorated with symbols that are relevant to the item. We could put dead dried leaves in the crates to symbolize tea and the dead, old past that we are "throwing overboard". We will have a procession through the Promenade and down to the Pier with a banner that says: "Santa Monica Tea Party, Vote for Ron Paul!". At the pier we will have a ceremony, saying a few words about each item that we want to throw overboard before symbolically emptying the contents into the sea to the cheers of the assembled patriots.

The visual quality of the re-enactment ceremony will be very appealing to the news media, who will be looking for something to accompany the reports of over $10 Million being raised by Ron Paul supporters.

We can also have a wireless laptop present to keep us up to date on the totals and also for people to make donations right there on the spot!

There will also be servings of hot LiberTea for everyone!

We need a creative team to work on the crates. Please volunteer!!

This sounds like a great idea to me. Make sure that whatever you stencil on the crates will be clearly readable from a distance by cameras. Use big stencils, and high contrast colors. Don't get too carried away with creative decorations if it will compromise the readability of the stencils.

And of course make sure you fish the crates back out of the water when you are done.

And if we do this with RP at a Boston Rally as the National Media focal point, we can get great local and national coverage. I love the idea of the crates with various bad things written on them that we will "dump" in the harbor

You shouldn't have too much trouble convincing the media to come out to cover your local event as long as you don't schedule it too early. Once the word gets out about whats going on with online fundraising they will want footage for their evening newscasts and print stories for the next day's paper.

Yeah I'm not sure which method would be better. I just wonder if casual spectators watching you would just shrug their shoulders and say "why do they hate dead leaves so much?"

But I also wonder if they will accuse you of polluting if they don't notice that the crates have a rope attached to them when you toss them in the water.

Anyways, in addition to what you already mentioned in you first post, do me a favor and add a crate labeled. "Apathy".


And you could have a sign that says "Follow Us" as you are marching through the Promenade and hopefully people will join you down at the pier.

I like the idea of having the laptop on hand so you can say "since the time I started talking, the campaign has raised another ??????? dollars.

A $10 million+ money bomb would force the MSM to cover Ron's campaign and the timing could be perfect with Iowa and NH coming up quickly thereafter.
