Starting Next Year, Brazil Wants To Track All Cars Electronically

    http://yro.slashdot.org/story/12/10/...electronically

"As of January, Brazil intends to put into action a new system that will track vehicles of all kinds via radio frequency chips. It will take a few years to accomplish, but authorities will eventually require all vehicles to have an electronic chip installed, which will match every car to its rightful owner. The chip will send the car's identification to antennas on highways and streets, soon to be spread all over the country. Eventually, it will be illegal to own a car without one. Besides real time monitoring of traffic conditions, authorities will be able to integrate all kinds of services, such as traffic tickets, licensing and annual taxes, automatic toll charge, and much more. Benefits also include more security, since the system will make it harder for thieves to run far away with stolen vehicles, much less leave the country with one."
Im so sure this will work out well...

This is the Incentivization of Surrender.

Sure, there might be a few benefits that an individual can have when they surrender to the authority of a police state, but those who stand to gain the most will be those that enforce the rules. When this type of total invasion of privacy occurs, every individual will end up paying dearly. Every minor infraction will be cited and further fund the Police State. If you dont use a blinker when changing lanes or making a turn, you'll automatically be fined. If you speed, you'll automatically be fined. If you have a child in the car and they take off their seat belt at any time for any reason, you will be fined.

To truly understand that this level of monitoring will not benefit the individual, you need look no further than Cell Phones. Cell Phones are one of the most frequently stolen items, and although the most popular ones are GPS enabled, that information is NEVER used to recover the stolen item. Not only that, but the ones that are stolen go right back into service although the service provider can easily discover whether or not the device has been reported as stolen or not. They make more money by providing service to stolen cell phones, then further capitalize on it by requiring that the victim has to purchase a new phone. If they had some sort of insurance, then the money is taken from the Insurance Company and not directly from the individual, but every single thing they do tries to bolster their bottom lines by manipulation of the Law to their financial benefit. Do we really expect that putting tracking bull$#@! in cars will turn out any different?
