    http://www.businessinsider.com/turke...#ixzz28GT2qzcu

Note the quote in green in comparison to the translated quote in the tinfoil buzz earlier:

    Original OP:

This is breaking "alternative news" at the moment. I don't see anything about it in western media. All the tinfoil sites have been chattering about it since around noon eastern today. Background is there has been some fighting on the Syrian side of the Turkish border. It has spilled over a few times. Reuters recently reported there was a Syrian shell that killed several people in Turkey. Pictures are from the turkish news site.

My sketchy tinfoil meter is twitching... I'll get back to you with details as they arise. The story broke in "English" on "godlikeproductions.com around 1 PM EST. Zaman seems genuine enough, but the story seems placed and the imagery stock.

This story broke on Zaman, a turkish news site, google translated link follows:

Wow... this bit of international news developed from the underground to the MSM while I was writing the OP. It stood the hairs up on the back of my hands as I was typing the update.

BBC is now carrying the story:

News: Turkey hits targets inside Syria after border deaths

    BBC News‎ - 23 minutes ago
Turkey targets positions inside Syria in response to the deaths of five people killed by Syrian shells in a Turkish border town.
This is a potential WWIII catalyzing event. Really bad mojo. Turkey is a NATO nation and there is a mutual defense clause amongst members, which include the US. Syria downed a Turkish jet last month. Iran has recently sworn to back Syria against outside agression. Iran - Russia relations. Iran - China relations. HOT MESS.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-...targets-syria/

"It's a very, very dangerous situation," Clinton said. "And all responsible nations need to band together to persuade the Assad regime to have a cease-fire, quit assaulting their own people and begin the process of a political transition."

"This is yet another example of the depraved behavior of the Syrian regime, and why it must go," said Pentagon press secretary George Little. "We regret the loss of life in Turkey, a strong ally, and continue to monitor the situation closely."

Something else of note that came of this attack. Note that we picked up the news through a translation of a local turkish website via a member of a conspiracty theorist site: godlikeproductions.com who ten pages into his own thread was still half sold himself as to whether it was real news or not:

Turkey has been involved from the beginning.
They had been harboring the FSA,, and got a plane shot down in Syrian airspace. (Where it did not belong)
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

How come NATO didn't take out Turkey? They're one the most horrific abusers of human rights, censorship, propaganda. Oh I forgot, they're in NATO.

Just a little refresher, even if you're a journalist: Turkey No Model of Freedom of Press

    http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/T...om-2371031.php
...you'll find a cesspool, a government showing utter contempt for its own people by jailing scores of reporters, blocking thousands of websites, severely punishing anyone who dares utter a word of criticism.

Guess which nation has jailed more reporters than any other. China? Iran? No, it's Turkey. The Turkish media say 68 are in prison right now - double the number last reported in either China or Iran. And some are jailed for more than just a few days or weeks.

The International Press Institute noted that two newspaper reporters were recently sentenced to 138 and 166 years each. Another is battling 150 separate court cases. Two others, on trial now, face up to 3,000 years in prison. A common charge is "insulting the president of the republic." If that were a legal charge in any actual democracy, the nation's entire press corps would be in jail.

In the spirit of indivisibility of security and solidarity deriving from the Washington Treaty, the Alliance continues to stand by Turkey and demands the immediate cessation of such aggressive acts against an Ally, and urges the Syrian regime to put an end to flagrant violations of international law.

Interesting note. SANA News (Syria's state news agency) has completely blacked out coverage of this incident

    http://sana.sy/index_eng.html

No talk of Western interference... It simply didn't happen.

Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said on Wednesday that the relevant authorities in Syria are investigating the source of the gunfire that claimed the lives of a Turkish woman and her children, offering sincerest condolences on behalf of the Syrian government to the family of the deceased and the Turkish people.
They are referring to to the mortar strike that killed the woman and her children in Turkey as "gunfire". This is the incident in question that has caused the Turkish bombardment that continues today.

Summary Here's a summary of the main events so far today:
    Turkey-Syria tensions

Turkey has fired retaliatory strikes into Syria for a second day after a mortar from Syria killed five Turkish civilians. Locals said the shooting around the border town of Acakale was last heard at 5am.
The Turkish parliament is meeting to discuss government plans to give its military clearance operations outside Turkey's borders. The measure is expected to be approved despite objections from opposition politicians. Two aides to prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey has no interest in a war with Syria, but wants to protects is borders.
Russia has urged Syria to acknowledge that the mortar strike was an accident, while the international community has called for restraint from both sides. Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said: "We have spoken to the Syrian authorities who assured us ... that what happened at the border with Turkey was a tragic accident, and that it will not happen again. We think it is of fundamental importance for Damascus to state that officially."
Syria said it was investigating the source of the mortar bomb, offered condolence to Turkey and urged restraint. Information minister Omran Zoabi told Syrian TV: "In case of border incidents that occur between any two neighbouring countries, countries and governments must act wisely, rationally and responsibly, particularly since there's a special condition on the Syrian-Turkish borders in terms of the presence of undisciplined terrorist groups spread across the borders who have varying agendas and identities."
Nato ambassadors met in emergency session in Brussels on Wednesday to ponder their limited options over the escalating Syrian conflict after the cross-border. The Nato ambassadors issued a statement following the meeting, voicing their "greatest concern" and strong condemnation of the shelling, said to have killed a Turkish woman and her four children.

Syria An Islamist militant group, the al-Nusra Front, has claimed responsibility for coordinated suicide bombings in Aleppo that killed 48 people, Reuters reports citing the Site monitoring group. At least two car bombs exploded on Wednesday in the main Saadallah al-Jabiri Square and another bomb exploded a few hundred metres away, state media said.
Rebels killed 21 elite Republican Guards in an ambush on an army minibus in a suburb northwest of Damascus, Reuters reports citing activists. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights quoted a medical source and witnesses as saying the troops had been killed in Qudsayya, which has been shelled by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad after rebels moved into the area.

It was only a matter of time. Turkey has been a safe haven for the "rebels" for a while now and I can't imagine the Syrian regime is very happy about it. Obviously there was a bunch of tension between the two before this.

The wording used by the MSM will indicate what the Fedgov wants to happen.

If it narrows it down to a few "attacks" being specific and acting as if they are direct retaliation to other specific "attacks", then they do not want to go to war.

If it is termed as "aggression" or "acts of war", then we are ramping up for another country to our list of wars.

"Yesterday night, Turkey took revenge for attacks from REBELS in Syria that have previously attacked a Turkish border village" reported German ZDF television. The wording used by the MSM will indicate what the Federal government WANTS to happen. Remember, US propaganda today matches NAZI propaganda of yesterday.

If it narrows it down to a few "attacks" being specific and acting as if they are direct retaliation to other specific "attacks", then they do not want to go to war.

Alon Ben-Meir of New York University's Center for Global Affairs argued in a recent Turkish press interview that direct action was becoming both unavoidable and desirable, and that the best way forward was a no-fly zone. He said:

"Now that Turkey is asking for this, if Nato goes along with it and the United States goes along with it, that's a change in attitude. Turkey did not have the legal legitimacy to intervene. But now they also realise that everybody is intervening.
"Iran is intervening by sending military advisors. Russia is intervening by sending weapons on a regular basis. Saudi Arabia and Qatar are intervening by sending money and some weapons. And the United States is intervening by sending communications gear and some weapons and money indirectly. So everyone is interfering, but they talk about no interference, which is cynical …"
"The Assad regime is finished. When it might happen depends on what other powers do and when they do it. If after the [US presidential] election the United States along with Turkey, in particular these two countries, decide that the time has come, then they will be able to accelerate his demise."

Philip Giraldi on Sibel, Turkey, Israel, the Neocons and the MIC
    BY SCOTT HORTON ⋅ MAY 10, 2006 ⋅

.....Israel has long cultivated a close relationship with Turkey since Ankara’s neighbours and historic enemies – Iran, Syria and Iraq – are also hostile to Tel Aviv. Islamic Turkey has also had considerable symbolic value for Israel, demonstrating that hostility to Muslim neighbours is not a sine qua non for the Jewish state.

Turkey benefits from the relationship by securing general benevolence and increased aid from the US Congress – as well as access to otherwise unattainable military technology. The Turkish General Staff has a particular interest because much of the military spending is channeled through companies in which the generals have a financial stake, making for a very cozy and comfortable business arrangement. The commercial interest has also fostered close political ties, with the American Turkish Council, American Turkish Cultural Alliance and the Assembly of Turkish American Associations all developing warm relationships with AIPAC and other Jewish and Israel advocacy groups throughout the US.

Someone has to be in the middle to keep the happy affair going, so enter the neocons, intent on securing Israel against all comers and also keen to turn a dollar. In fact the neocons seem to have a deep and abiding interest in Turkey, which, under other circumstances, might be difficult to explain. Doug Feith’s International Advisors Inc, a registered agent for Turkey in 1989 – 1994, netted $600,000 per year from Turkey, with Richard Perle taking $48,000 annually as a consultant. Other noted neoconservatives linked to Turkey are former State Department number three, Marc Grossman, current Pentagon Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Eric Edelman, Paul Wolfowitz and former congressman Stephen Solarz. The money involved does not appear to come from the Turkish government, and FBI investigators are trying to determine its source and how it is distributed. Some of it may come from criminal activity, possibly drug trafficking, but much more might come from arms dealing. Contracts in the hundreds of millions, or even billions of dollars provide considerable fat for those well placed to benefit. Investigators are also looking at Israel’s particular expertise in the illegal sale of US military technology to countries like China and India. Fraudulent end-user certificates produced by Defense Ministries in Israel and Turkey are all that is needed to divert military technology to other, less benign, consumers. The military-industrial-complex/neocon network is also well attested. Doug Feith has been associated with Northrup Grumman for years, while defense contractors fund many neocon-linked think tanks and “information” services. Feith, Perle and a number of other neocons have long had beneficial relationships with various Israeli defense contractors.

Update: Sibel Edmonds says, “Giraldi has it 100% right; this I consider the most accurate summary of my case.”

Hypocrisy? You betcha: UN condemns Syrian attack on Turkish town

For the FSA mortar fire on Turkey... they haven't even proven it was the Syrian government forces and why just a one mortar shots, that hit one home? Well, the False Flag garbage continues... by the FSA, accomplices and of course, Western Media. BBC is right up there with FOX/ABC/NBC/CBS, the new "alpha agencies" but they do show how easy it was for Turkey Parlament to approve military action in Syria.
    (Sound familiar?)

100,000s in Instanbul protest against THEIR government going to war. See, it's not the people, its the regime thugs that run governments that take the people to war, against their will. Plenty of evidence what Turkey is doing and how they do it.
Turkey's parliament has authorised military action inside Syria, a move that triggered anti-war protests.
See BBC article/video for report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19840022

BUT, the UN doesn't condemn Turkey for launching an artillery attack 5x's as destructive on the Syrian city? Yes, the UN is complicit in the Lies & Hypocrisy The Turkish people may very well save Syria from the thugs of the world.

    FYI...

There was a heavy police presence, but the protests were largely peaceful
apart from an incident of rock throwing, Turkoz reported.

Demonstrators hold placards reading "No War" and shout slogans as they
take part in a protest against a possible war with Syria, in Istanbul.

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that testing Turkey's capacity for deterrence would be "a fatal mistake".
Striking a belligerent tone in a speech to a crowd in Istanbul, Erdogan said: "We are not interested in war, but we're not far from it either. This nation has come to where it is today having gone through intercontinental wars."

NATO is preparing the ground for military intervention in Syria under the pretext that the security of Turkey, which is a NATO member, has been threatened,
