And it looks like I was wrong about the Katyn Massacre as well. Looks like they've talked about it plenty.
(Though you could chalk that up to anti-Soviet-era sentiment & Stalin-disavowment.)

When law and morality are in contradiction to each other, the citizen finds himself in the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense, or of losing his respect for the law. - The Law Government is that great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else. - Government
We live in a socialist country that routinely ignores the Constitution (Law of the Land).
We live in a Police State, The economy is destroyed. Our "representatives" don't represent us.
I could very likely live as comfortably in Russia. (if I could trade or move my property)
What exactly is the difference?
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

In terms of raising a family, that's what I want to do, it is easier in Russia as long as you are self-employed, so, if your thinking about moving there, I say go for it. I've lived in Eastern Europe, I loved it so much I'm moving back in a few months as long as the world doesn't implode. I assume Russia is similar, but I've also heard the main Russian cities can be extremely expensive. For a woman I wouldn't recommend it, but for a young man with a little money its paradise. I say this just in terms of the fact the women are beautiful and dateable, you have good community life with your neighbors, people are outside more, people spend less time on their cell-phones, etc..
