Iran could probably defend itself from an isreal attack, but if we get involved its game over for iran. We might not win, whatever that means, but iran will be left in a big pile of rubble, set back hundreds of years.

So why not just scrap the project? Pride? Knowledge that we would attack regardless?
LOL! You think any of this has anything to do whatsoever with their nuclear program?

If it wasn't for their nuclear program for energy and medical uses they would make something else up. They already are lying about their nuclear program claiming they are working on nuclear weapons development when even the UN inspectors see no evidence of that whatsoever, just like they saw no evidence of WMD in Iraq. Iraq couldn't have gave up their WMD because they had none to give up. It is the same situation with Iran. Israel wants war with Iran and they want the USA involved because they know they can't possibly win on their own without massive casualties. Also, they are just plain chicken shit and would rather Americans die than themselves.

Not that the American Powers That Be are without motivation of their own. Iran has been selling oil for currencies other than the Petrodollar for some time now. In fact, you can tell exactly when they first started to make noises about accepting other currencies for their oil--it happened just about the time that their nuclear program is alleged to have started (or, at least, when it was alleged to have started enriching uranium to weapons-grade).

    Good summary. QFT.

Who knows what the truth is anymore. For all we know Iran already abandoned its pursuit of nuclear power and may have made a press release that noone aired.

I can think of two very good reasons to second that!

Just two recent examples, Kadaffi (sp?) and Saddam gave up their bad guy projects and played nice, look where that got them.

Winter is coming all they need to do is stop the flow of gas and watch as the EU goes to hell.

Iran has had a decade long trillion dollar tutoring lessons in Iraq and Afghanistan on how the US army operates. They have been also been preparing for the war for over a decade.

Yugoslavia showed that aerial bombardment can be negated to a great extent when you are on the defensive and well prepared.Iran also has far larger capabilities in offensive missiles and AA systems that Yugoslavia ever had.

I expect a long war that will take down USA,Western Europe and Japan on an economical field when there will be no more cheap oil.
