 Marines sent to Libya"

About 50 U.S. Marines were sent to Libya to guard U.S. diplomatic facilities. The Marines are members of an elite group known as a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team, or FAST, whose role is to respond on short notice to terrorism threats and to reinforce security at embassies.

The Marines, sent from a base in Spain, were headed initially to the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, not to Benghazi, according to U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

The consulate attack illustrated the breakdown in security in Libya, where the government is still trying to establish authority months after Gadhafi’s fall.

They keep repeating this stupid 'breakdown of security' ad nauseum. There was no break down of security - Al Qaeda is in charge of the country, thanks to US and NATO, and what happened in Libya is only going to continue, not because of any lack of security, but because this is the dictat of the rulers. Another in a long line of US hubris and... what I can only imagine to be, problem - reaction - solution. In other words, they create the problems so they can make a case for their continued existence as the solution. A racket or more commonly called Government.

What, sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty.

I had read about how "heroic" the u.s. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens to Libya was when he met with rebel "leaders" . Obviously he was meeting with some very bad people and keeping a tight line of communication going back and forth between the u.s. and the rebel "leaders" aka al-qaeda?

Either way, one thing is clear and that is we should not have embassies and not be there.

Why are Libyans not outraged that al qaida killed one of the heroes from the Libyan revolution?
