Mitt Romney is Barack Obama. Would you expect Obama to appoint Ron as fed chair?
No but think of the media attention this would get. He's not going to get elected president but if enough people pushed for this it would open the eyes of alot of people. I would bet you the younger generation could do a massive social media campaign on this because it's their future being mortgaged and they know Ron would help.
I'm gonna have to say fuck no to this. The adjustment that would take place if we got our way economically would be a staggering blow to most Americans, and I really don't want Ron taking the blame for it. There will be much pain before the gain, and it will all be placed squarely at Ron's feet. He doesn't deserve that. 20 years from now people will realize he saved our asses, but the immediate implications would be horrific.

Romney will appoint a better Fed chair, but not of the Austrian school for sure.
Not going to happen. Ever. Besides, Ron ail says the Fed is the problem, not just Ben Bernanke specifically.
Rand Paul 2016
Romney won't do anything drastic. I could definitely see him appointing John Taylor. A lot of people thought he would replace Bernanke. Taylor is big fan of Hayek and would be a big step in the right direction. I would actually bet on him being appointed if Romney wins.
Ron Paul isn't qualified to be Fed Chairman. There is a big knowledge gap between someone like George Selgin or Jim Grant and Ron Paul.

Is it within the Fed Chairman's job description to close the joint down? Unless so, I wouldn't want Ron Paul to go near it.
Has Ron Paul suddenly become president of a Fed bank?

Ron Paul names his pick for Federal Reserve chairman
Published: 7:37 PM 10/26/2011
Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul, a vocal critic of the Federal Reserve, dropped a potential name for chairman of the Fed on Wednesday evening.
During the online portion of Fox News’ “Special Report with Brett Baier,” Paul said that he would “probably” pick economist Jim Grant, editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, for the position.
The question was posed by Stephen Hayes of The Weekly Standard, who noted that Paul would be unable to immediately abolish the Federal Reserve.
“He’s an Austrian economist, he has experience on Wall Street, he’s brilliant, he’s a good historian,” Paul said of Grant. “He would quit printing money.”
Grant has previously said that Paul should be named the “executor” of the Fed’s “living will.”
Paul was more coy about who he would choose for vice president. He declined to answer, stressing that he first needed to secure the nomination.
