Default Who should serve on the gold commission?

Apparently, a new gold commission is in the works.

    Who would you name?

I think we need a good mix of:

    1-Economists
    2-Financial experts/bankers
    3-Historians

    Suggestions?

No matter who we have, I'm sure the deck will be stacked in favor of the central planners.

Commissions are worthless. Name something good that's ever come out of one.

Ron Paul, clearly, to my mind. He wrote the minority report for the last one, and his power base would make his views be heard. His having BEEN on the last one and his ability to point to his accuracy will also help.

Ron Paul was around for over ten years before the Gold Commission. I guess I should have been more specific; no good policy has ever been enacted from a Government Commission. That's the entire point of them, no? It isn't like we need a Government Commission to have whatever issue become more popular (that is.. in a good direction). All commissions do is whitewash and reinforce the status quo, or languish and are never heard from again. Lot of good the 'Debt Commission' did, eh?

When it comes to politics, the only thing that matters is what the hell they pass. I don't care about their stupid commissions that have no legal ramifications. Just legalize liberty all ready. You willing to make a bet. I'll bet you 5 oz. of gold that the Gold Standard will never come out of this commission or any other in the next twenty years. Care to take the bet?

George Selgin, Edwin Vieira, Steve Forbes.
I’m not a libertarian. I’m not advocating everyone run around with no clothes on and smoke pot.

Who cares? Are they going to let us use gold as money? No. Are they going to stop inflating and therefore bankrupt the U.S. government? No. They might as well put Bernanke on the Gold Commission.

    Good choices.

I'm also thinking Lew Lehrman again. James Grant and maybe John Allison as well.
