Default RNC passes rule giving itself power to change any rule without delegate vote

The implications of this are so huge I don't even know where to begin. I'm not sure how we come back from this.

    Wow.

Take data in, do the best we can this weekend, then deal with it later. At least that is my view of it. It will make a great video, immediately and fodder for other actions. This might have 'unintended consequences'.

But remember that the RNC attorney BEFORE the rules change said they could do that.

"This is necessary for the world in which we find ourselves in," Ginsberg told the committee, adding that it is "important for the political survival of the party in the electoral context," for the committee to be able to change the rules as it sees fit in the intervening four years between conventions.

Virginia delegate and RNC member Morton Blackwell strenuously objected to the proposed rule change, calling it "the most awful proposed amendments I’ve seen presented to this committee.”

"This is dangerous, it amounts to a power grab," he said. "We are abandoning the historic process by which are rules are adopted."

The Romney allies waited until Friday to propose the amendment, choosing to avoid giving the opposition time to organize by proposing it at the preliminary Rules meeting on Wednesday or during more than three years of RNC Rules Committee discussions.

South Carolina delegate Drew McKissick, who objected to the rule change, echoed Blackwell's charge, warning that nearly any rule could now be amended by 3/4 of the Republican National Committee.

"It’s definitely a power grab by the campaign, the committee," he said. "It’s bad juju. Once you let the genie out of the bottle they can do anything."
All for the gun-banning, pro-abort, Welfare-Warfare-Police Statist Mandate Mitt RomneyCare (Prog-MA).

Ginseberg is worried about the party's survival? Please! The continues purges by the establishment neo-Trots will kill it in short order (which is likely the goal anyway, since they're really Democrats pretending to be conservatives). I, for one, will pray everyday that this utterly corrupt, morally bankrupt political party goes the way of the Whigs.

"The State, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing."

The first step towards tyranny. I'm sure by 2016, they'll just forgo the primary process and choose the nominee themselves. The GOP = tyrants

At first, I thought this was gonna be an Onion article.

Ginsberg is the lawyer involved in the FLorida recount, who got a bunch of hired protesters to storm the counting room. Also got Romney and RNC staff to go up and nominate about 75 extra people at the Maine convention.

Maybe it's the pin of team bifactional ruling party, which he represents. Red/Blue, and top-down control.

Good luck changing the GOP when the leadership has no intention of stepping down or being voted out. He that controls the rules controls the party.

So, basically,... Shut up mundane, and get in line... We will tell you what the rules are when you need to know them....
They must be exposed...this is utterly contemptible and unimaginable...

Is the campaign doing anything? A press conference to get media attention or anything?

It just happened, and hasn't been ratified yet I would presume.

+rep Why is this so hard for others to understand? They will never let us get NEAR controlling the rules.

Thank you for all of your service Ron Paul. You have awakened a great number of liberty minded folks, and inspired many to run for office themselves.

Why even have a primary process and delegates? Seems like all they need to do is name who they want to have nominated and go with that. With all of the rules they have, it seems like that's the case anyway.

That's pretty much what they did, no?

This is an outrage. The public must know about this. If the campaign doesn't issue a statement I will not be donating any more money to Ron or Rand, ever.

I've been a loyal supporter for years, but this is where it ends for me if the campaign cannot stand up for itself.

I don't think the campaign will have any say in this. The GOP is consolidating it's power. I am certain they will eventually just pick the nominee themselves and skip the whole primary system. I'd like to see the look on the faces of the people who are trying to "take over" the GOP then...

Emmm, I think I may have an answer as to why they still have primaries. It's to get people to donate money to a candidate and then have that money spent for advertisements to feed those who own the Main Stream Media and I'm sure most here know who those people are.
