    The article says:

*".......which is the agency the government set up to manage the country's monetary policy."

Oh really? The Federal Reserve is a government agency now? Idiot reporter....

Re-read that sentence. the government "set up the agency", it doesn't say it is a government agency.

I thought the banks set up their own agency then got the government to sign on?

Mr. Romney said he doesn't want Congress to meddle too much in the business of the Federal Reserve, which is the independent agency the government set up to manage the country's monetary policy. But he said it should be audited as part of a push to know more about the connections between the government and wealthy campaign contributors.

Romney said he liked Bernanke, and read the article for what he means - he wants them 'independent' (code for not wanting monetary audited) and just wants to show ties to donors, apparently.

Yeah but every Romney supporter expects us to. Heck just look at the comments.....

How bout you diehard Paulians work within reality and make a push within the parameters that are there, instead of helping the pure statist that is Obama. We cannot defeat the establishment in a direct engagement, but we can take it over.

How bout joining the party that is not completely overrun with statists. Hell, the Republicans actually blocked the Democrats from putting black boxes in all of our cars.
Them thinking the GOP is not hijacked as well is laughable, when people wake up and realize this is all a sick game to the few really running this show. The quicker we will be able to actually do some good for this country which will reflect on the rest of the world. Congrats they stop black boxes, today but wait a few more weeks and it will pass unnoticed. Im sure the GOP would never/haven't supported other bills to limit our already very little freedoms we have left

Well, if you read the Creature from Jekyll Island which you may have, with government assistance it surely was set up that way. Congress has ceded much of the monetary authority provided to it in the constitution to this "quasi-government" agency which is really private and "reports to Congress" what it is up to.

I emailed the reporter and he changed the verbiage to "an independent agency set up by the government.

Romney: Time to Audit the Fed...

Borrowing Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign push, Mitt Romney said Monday he thinks the Federal Reserve should face an audit.
"Very plain and simple, the answer is yes. The Federal Reserve should be accountable. We should see what they're doing," Mr. Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said at a town hall in New Hampshire.

Mr. Paul, the Texas congressman who is still technically in the running for the Republican nomination, though he does not have the delegates to win it at next week's convention, made an audit of the Fed a chief part of his campaign.

Earlier this year, the House passed Mr. Paul's bill to grant the Government Accountability Office the power to conduct such a broad audit, though Senate Democrats have shown no inclination to bring that bill to the floor.

Still, the issue has gained political currency after the Wall Street collapse and after a previous more limited GAO audit found the Fed had used extraordinary powers during in the aftermath of the financial mess.

On Monday, at the town hall, someone asked, "Isn't it time to audit the Federal Reserve?" and Mr. Romney didn't hesitate.

Mr. Romney said he doesn't want Congress to meddle too much in the business of the Federal Reserve, which is the independent agency the government set up to manage the country's monetary policy. But he said it should be audited as part of a push to know more about the connections between the government and wealthy campaign contributors.

The GOP's platform committee begins meeting later Monday, and Mr. Paul is seeking to have a Fed audit included as an official position of the party. Gov. Bob McDonnell, the platform committee's chairman, told The Washington Times last month that he supported accountability at the Fed, and said the committee was looking at a number of Mr. Paul's ideas.

    The stupid Romney supporter comment...

The Republicans are the establishment. Geez, where has that big government neocon Romney supporter been the last 50 years? We have a two party criminal system that is technically a one party dictatorship because it does not matter which party gets in power, the same FREAKING thing happens - more spending, more taxation, more welfare, more debt, more illegal wars, and a bigger police state. What planet does that idiot comment above live on?

The statists are the socialist Democrats and the socialist lite Republicans (are in place to control the opposition like the Tea Party, conservatives, etc.) Therefore a vote for Romney is a support for Obama. They agree on every major policy out there - both support...

    1. Patriot Act which destroys the 4th Amendment, goodbye privacy - piss on the Constitution
    2. NDAA which kills the 5th Amendment (due process in court) and allows the President to act like a tyrant killing anyone he chooses - take a piss again Republicans
    3. IRS system of 73,000 pages which is pure theft and out right discrimination by favoring one person, group or industry over another
    4. The wealth stealing pyramid scheme that is bankrupt - SS system
    5. Policing the world
    6. Illegal wars just different wars or a mix of the same.
    7. The federal reserve system and counterfeit money which creates inflation (a hidden tax on the poor and middle classes), destroys savings and hurts old people on fixed incomes
    8. Abortion - yeah yeah Mitt has flip flopped on this issue like all others
    9. Failed war on drug policy which has cost well over $1 trillion - hey, people are gonna do it. Prohibition fails. More people are killed from legal perscriptions - get a clue.
    10. Granddaddy of them all - OBAMACARE - Mitt practically wrote it and wanted Mass. model at the federal level per his book (that comment was recently taken out) LMAO

And as I predicted, Romney would come out in support of the auditing the FED (after he claimed it was not necessary and praising Bernanke). Why? Because remember, the Republicans are about controlling the opposition. It's called co-opting the message because Romney doesn't have one except that he is not Obama although peel away his light skin and you get exactly that - OBAMA.

Support Gary Johnson who actually stands for something and protest the two party criminal system.

If Rand does not win the Republican nomination, he should buck the controlled two party system and run as an Independent for President in 2016 and give Americans a real option to vote for.

We are all born libertarians then something goes really wrong. Despite this truth, most people are still libertarians yet not know it.
