The militarization of domestic law enforcement is because they have ever expanding goals, budgets, and income to continue their expansion. Since they have a preference for military hiring, it only makes sense they'll start becoming more like military. Personally, I think prior military service should disqualify a person for domestic "law enforcement" and that is exactly why.

Good question.We have local police, backed up by each state’s National Guard, backed up by the Department of Defense. So in addition to all these forces why does DHS need its own private army? Why do the SSA, NOAA and other government agencies need to create their own civilian security forces armed with hollow nose bullets?
It is a double edge sword. I know many who served who are against 99% of what law enforcement does. But then I do understand where you are coming from.
