    I don't agree that is the goal, but I do agree it is a predictable result. The militarization of domestic law enforcement is because they have ever expanding goals, budgets, and income to continue their expansion. Since they have a preference for military hiring, it only makes sense they'll start becoming more like military. Personally, I think prior military service should disqualify a person for domestic "law enforcement" and that is exactly why.

    Go Forward With Courage

    When you are in doubt, be still, and wait;
    when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage.
    So long as mists envelop you, be still;
    be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists
    -- as it surely will.
    Then act with courage.

    We have local police, backed up by each state’s National Guard, backed up by the Department of Defense. So in addition to all these forces why does DHS need its own private army? Why do the SSA, NOAA and other government agencies need to create their own civilian security forces armed with hollow nose bullets?
    Good question.

    It is a double edge sword. I know many who served who are against 99% of what law enforcement does. But then I do understand where you are coming from.

    Here is a direct link to a PDF that I downloaded a few days ago, then uploaded to my server so it couldn't get 'redacted'. It shows DHS ordering in excess of 50 million rounds for "Training Purposes". I honestly lost count on how much ammo they are ordering in this request.
    The purchase orders can be searched for on FBO.GOV
