One of the most logical responses to the article. I'll also add creating energy out of nothing would go right against Newton's first law of thermodynamics. It would rewrite science on many fronts as we know it. As such I'm not holding my breath.ZandarKoad says:

I don’t understand… “By moving the plates (which are made of silicon), energy is created out of nothing and a net force is created which would be used to push, pull or propel a spacecraft.”
Who gives a poop about spacecraft propulsion? I mean really? There is only about 9,999,999 things more important that could be accomplished with “energy … created out of nothing”.

I invited me! What are you gonna do about it?

I don't think Newton accounted for these Quantum Mechanics effects that this is supposed to harness.
The Casimir effect has been known for 60+ years, but it would be like trying to rectify randomness; on average, you get nothing.

Beyond all of that I'm glad that youth are leading the efforts here where it really counts and through willingness to explore. If they are never introduced to alternative logic then by default change cannot ever come to fruition. I suspect that this is why things remain the way they do. As much as I'd like to think that politics are the means for genuine change the reality is that they are not. Although existing as they may have to be they seem to provide the opposition to change more so than contribute.
Fox is supposed to air another 13 part series of Carl Sagan's Cosmos next year. Hopefully it may serve to charge a different generation of youth in a social manner that may encourage them to begin to question where it really counts.
