Offshore balancing is a strategic concept used in realist analysis in international relations. The term describes a strategy where a great power uses favored regional powers to check the rise of potential hostile powers.
We don't need as many military bases with this concept, this concept just shifts the burden to our regional allies to check hostile powers and promotes using the navy instead of ground forces. This strategy also doesn't need huge scale military deployments.
