Default NY Times: In Tight Iowa Race, Romney Struggles to Excite G.O.P. Base

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/04/us...pagewanted=all

OSKALOOSA, Iowa — Presidential candidates are again marshaling their forces to win Iowa, which is up for grabs in November. Mitt Romney, eager to capture a state President Obama carried four years ago, is planning another visit on Tuesday as he bulks up his existing 11 field offices to compete with Mr. Obama’s 17.

But as he strides toward the traditional show of party unity at the Republican convention this month, Mr. Romney faces a worrisome undercurrent here: that the grass-roots elements who animated the Iowa caucuses — including evangelical Christians, Ron Paul supporters and Tea Party members — are not fully behind his candidacy in a battle that will be determined partly on who turns out his party’s base.
    A lot more at link.

Thoughtful article, though obviously intended to reflect well on their candidate (Obama.) All the same, it is true.
"Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesn't want to hear.” -Ron Paul

the worse romney does the bigger the backlash against those in leadership.
we need to be able to show that putting up progressives under the GOP banner is a recipe for disaster and the a-holes who keep doing it need to go,

yeah i agree. My hope is that we force the GOP's hand. That, in essence, they realize they cannot win without us and we will NOT vote for any ole republican therefore forcing them to support a libertarian or lose.

And honestly, i couldn't give a damn if the GOP loses every fucking presidential election in my lifetime because a choice of Mitt Romney or Barack Obama is not a real choice. I am not bluffing. I will not support Mitt or any other neocon for that matter.

There is only one solution as far as I see it. We nominate Ron Paul instead of Mitt Romney. Only way to win.

Thank you for all of your service Ron Paul. You have awakened a great number of liberty minded folks, and inspired many to run for office themselves.

Yep, because even though Romney is no better than Obama, also Obama is no better than Romney.

Obama crushing Romney will actually play into the hands of the liberty movement quite well in a Machiavellian way. The republican party will be in disarray, even more so than it is already and we'll be poised to pick up the pieces. There will be a mandate against all establishment types at all levels. I honestly believe this could be the last time we see an establishment presidential nominee from the republican party in a long time.
