AP: FDR Covered Up Stalin's Crimes at Katyn Forest

Hmmm. Took a long time for that to come up. And from the AP? Wow!!!!

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...09-10-17-28-34

Documents released Monday and seen in advance by The Associated Press lend weight to the belief that suppression within the highest levels of the U.S. government helped cover up Soviet guilt in the killing of some 22,000 Polish officers and other prisoners in the Katyn forest and other locations in 1940.

The evidence is among about 1,000 pages of newly declassified documents that the United States National Archives released and is putting online. Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who helped lead a recent push for the release of the documents, called the effort's success Monday a "momentous occasion" in an attempt to "make history whole."

Historians who saw the material days before the official release describe it as important and shared some highlights with the AP. The most dramatic revelation so far is the evidence of the secret codes sent by the two American POWs - something historians were unaware of and which adds to evidence that the Roosevelt administration knew of the Soviet atrocity relatively early on.

The declassified documents also show the United States maintaining that it couldn't conclusively determine guilt until a Russian admission in 1990 - a statement that looks improbable given the huge body of evidence of Soviet guilt that had already emerged decades earlier. Historians say the new material helps to flesh out the story of what the U.S. knew and when.

The Soviet secret police killed the 22,000 Poles with shots to the back of the head. Their aim was to eliminate a military and intellectual elite that would have put up stiff resistance to Soviet control. The men were among Poland's most accomplished - officers and reserve officers who in their civilian lives worked as doctors, lawyers, teachers, or as other professionals. Their loss has proven an enduring wound to the Polish nation.

In the early years after the war, outrage by some American officials over the concealment inspired the creation of a special U.S. Congressional committee to investigate Katyn.

In a final report released in 1952, the committee declared there was no doubt of Soviet guilt, and called the massacre "one of the most barbarous international crimes in world history." It found that Roosevelt's administration suppressed public knowledge of the crime, but said it was out of military necessity. It also recommended the government bring charges against the Soviets at an international tribunal - something never acted upon.

Despite the committee's strong conclusions, the White House maintained its silence on Katyn for decades, showing an unwillingness to focus on an issue that would have added to political tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War.

Amazing eh? But...but...Uncle Joe was our friend. And in 62 years reports will be released that 9/11 was an inside job.

There's a good Polish movie about this atrocity on Netflix. The assembly line style execution of these men is one of the most chilling things I've ever watched.

This thread brings up another disturbing conspiracy,(yes, I said it) why did/do the Soviets get a pass for their invasion of Poland?

Thanks, I will have to check that out. But I know Joseph Stalin was a madman because my Maternal grandmother's family fled these areas and when I was a child told me the horrific stories of Stalin's atrocities to Polish people.

Russian Admission of Katyn Leaves Unanswered Questions

Bruce Walker | The New American
    02 December 2010

Seventy years after the dastardly deed, Russian officials officially acknowledged that Joseph Stalin, brutal dictator of the Soviet Union, personally ordered the massacre of 20,000 Polish officers and other notables at the Katyn forests.

Soviet responsibility for this crime has long been understood by all objective observers. Nazis called international attention to the bodies at Katyn in the last years of the Second World War. The Soviets denied all responsibility and instead blamed the massacre on the Nazis.

The Soviet Union was a close ally of the Nazis during the first years of the Second World War. When Hitler attacked Poland from the west, Stalin attacked Poland, shortly after the German strike, from the east. The two thuggish regimes supported each other’s claim to their respective halves of Poland. Bolsheviks did not merely justify their deeds in Poland, they defended what the Nazis were doing in Poland as well. Izvestia on October 9, 1939, stated, "The government of the Soviet Union and the government of Germany undertook the task of establishing peace and order on the territory of the former Poland and to give to the peoples inhabiting that territory a peaceful existence which would correspond to their national characteristics.”

When Stalin, a few months later, launched an aggressive war against little Finland, the Nazis supported the Soviet position with threats against neighbors of Finland. This was noted at the time by a number of commentators. One observed: “In January 1940 there was a most aggressive press campaign against the Scandinavian countries which left them in no doubt about what would happen if they intervened in favour of Finland.” Neville Chamberlain told the British House of Commons on March 19, 1940: “It was only German threats which terrified Scandinavian countries into withholding the help which might have saved Finland.” Elliston observed the same thing: “It would seem that the Germans absolutely scared the Swedes out of forthright support of Finland when the Finnish-Soviet crisis came.”

The murder of 20,000 Polish officers at Katyn was a drop in the bucket of Polish blood that the Soviets spilt. Moreover, this was widely reported while the Soviets were our “ally” in the Second World War and criticism of Stalin’s horrific empire was considered unpatriotic. Max Eastman, a former communist, disillusioned, wrote a long article in the July 1943 edition of Reader’s Digest entitled “We must face the facts about Russia.” In that article, he noted that Stalin shipped east to “concentration camps in Siberia” between 1.5 million and 2 million innocent Poles. He estimated that about 400,000 of those Poles must already be dead.

Even youth were sent to the Gulag. This is confirmed in the testimonies of Poles from the eastern (Soviet occupied) part of Poland. One girl, Irena, notes in the corrective labor settlement for children: “Our lecturers seemed to think different things at different times. Sometimes the Germans were a great nation, bound to the Soviet Union by sincere friendship, and sometimes they were Fascists who invaded other people’s countries.” After the German invasion of Russia, when Soviet girls accused these Polish girls of being collaborators with the Nazi, Irena notes: “Had we not up until now been accused of disloyalty to the Soviet Government whenever we spoke of the crimes against their German allies?”

Eastman also noted in July 1943 that the number of souls imprisoned in the Gulag was estimated to be 10 million to 15 million, this while Stalin was fighting a war against “German Fascism,” and needed every soldier he could put in a uniform. The duplicity, the malice, the sadism of Soviet rule was very well publicized in periodicals such as Reader’s Digest. Why, then, is anyone surprised to receive confirmation that the Soviets committed their crime at Katyn?

At the same time that Eastman was writing about the duplicity of the Soviets, Polish General Sikorsky, who had asked for an investigation of the Katyn Massacre, died in a mysterious aircraft accident off Gibraltar. Sikorsky was in a position to bring the massacre to the front of Allied political discussions, but his death weakened dramatically the voices that could call attention to Katyn. His adjutant, Joseph Rettinger, did not accompany the General on this deadly flight. Rettinger would later appear, however, as a liaison with the Polish underground and as a intermediary in the founding of what would become the European Union. He was (at least) a Soviet agent and perhaps double or triple agent who also had close ties to the European Union.

Six months ago, on April 10, 2010, another equally mysterious airline crash, which resulted in the death of the President of Poland as well as 95 other Polish political leaders, added more questions about Katyn. Krzysztof Nowak of the Katyn Forest Memorial Committee believes that these two air travel disasters involving important Polish leaders who were asking hard questions about what happened in the Katyn Forests in 1940 were more than just coincidence. “Put the pieces together,” Krzsztof “Kris” Nowak told me. “The higher you rise above this, the more you see the pieces fitting together.” The Polish leaders were traveling to Smolensk on the 70th anniversary of the massacre, and the Soviet-built Tupolev 154 aircraft had just been overhauled in December 2009.

Russian members of the Duma, the national legislature, had debated whether to do more and offer an apology and compensation to the Polish people — but such a move was not adopted. Russian President Medvedev is planning a trip to Poland in a few weeks, and the Russian government's acknowledgement of Stalin's role in the massacre is widely seen as a way of reducing the tension between the two nations.

Victims of communism were no less victims of a holocaust than victims of Nazism. Poles, however, remain — like Lithuanians, Czechs, Ukrainians, and many other peoples of Eastern Europe — victims of a holocaust that is never really mentioned or discussed much. But the vast democide by Marxist totalitarians remains a vital fact of history that is admitted only in tiny concessions like the — shocking! — news that Stalin ordered the murder of 20,000 Polish officers and notables 70 years ago. The real truth of Soviet evil remains 99 percent hidden or ignored.

The truth about Katyn also, people like Krzstof Nowak believe, has not been fully brought to light. When key Polish leaders die in sudden air disasters, when horrific actions by leaders of democracies, such as “Operation Keelhaul,” which not only sent many thousands of Russians, Ukrainians, and other refugees in Allied-occupied Europe back to the Hell of Stalin’s Paradise, and which included Polish soldiers who had never been subjects of the Soviet slave empire and had fought, courageously, against the Nazis — facts that never seem to find their way into textbooks — then the whole story has not yet been told. Seventy years ago, 20,000 brave Polish officers and notables were brutally massacred for the crime of being free men and patriots. History has not yet heard all the evidence of this crime.

BTW It is widely believed that Patton's 6th Army was intentionally delayed by Eisenhower and FDR so he could not reach Germany first, and in the process cut off the western advancement of the Soviets that were gobbling up countries like pacman. All this was planned beforehand by these cutthroat bastards in the state department & the OSS. They knew exactly who were the Soviets were, on the account that they had long financed them and supplied them with armaments.

Eisenhower had a habit of allowing the Soviets to advance and betraying the anti-Soviet fighters.

How does a colonel get promoted to Supreme Allied Commander over many more credible peers???? Handpicked? so he would do their bidding???

Interesting site. LOL But it does have the info I was looking for.
    http://one-evil.org/people/people_20c_Eisenhower.htm

In December 1943, President Roosevelt announced Eisenhower, still then only officially holding the rank of Colonel would be the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, being promoted immediately to being a four star Major General - one of the most dramatic rise in promotions in American history.

The announcement sent shockwaves through the US and even the Allied forces as Eisenhower was promoted over the heads of over fifty seasoned military leaders, including his former friend and mentor Douglas MacArthur - all of whom had far greater skill and merit.

Upon his arrival in England in 1943, a controversial claim has been made that Eisenhower received a communique from senior members of the SS offering clear and specific terms of unconditional surrender of all German forces, including the assassination of Hitler, if the Americans would help halt the Soviet advance into Central Europe.

Whether true or false, there is no question that Eisenhower quickly shelved the Churchill plan of a 1943 invasion while the Nazi forces were in a state of disarray and allowed the Germans a full six months to re-arm and re-equip their French forces ahead of any invasion.

In 1944, Eisenhower was confirmed as a Five Star General and Chief of the Army. In spite of the massive logistical superiority of the Allied forces, the Eisenhower D-Day plan very nearly failed. Again, during the Battle of the Bulge Eisenhower inexplicably ordered the halt of the encirclement of German forces enabling up to 150,000 to escape and prolonging the war a further twelve months.

No rational, military or political explanation for this order has ever been given. The effect of Eisenhowers deliberate decisions to prolong the war cost an additional 100,000 allied personnel and effectively handed Eastern Europe to the Soviet Union.

One man that did know the truth was Gen. George Smith Patton. On December 9th 1945, the day before he was due to fly back to Washington to meet with President Truman with proof that Eisenhower was a traitor who had costs the lives of thousands of American soldiers and millions of civilians, he was seriously injured in a “road accident” near Mannheim, Germany on 9 Dec 1945 (dying in hospital 21 December 1945). Miraculously the other occupants of the car in which Patton was critically injured escaped unharmed.

To counter the claims and rumour mills, Eisenhower authorised the leak of stories to damage the character of Patton including blaming Patton for the escape of the 150,000 soldiers of the German army and that Patton was mentally unstable. These false rumours still persist today.

However, there can be no doubt about the direct orders of Eisenhower in Operation Keelhaul- the repatriation of over two million former Russian prisoners of war to Joseph Stalin. While the actions of Eisenhower have always been maintained as a fact of life following the Yalta Agreement between Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt, the manner and clear fate of these poor souls was nothing short of Genocide on the same level as Adolf Hitler and the SS.

Eisenhower deliberately used the same logistical infrastructure of the Nazis used to murder millions to transport the millions of Russian prisoners of war to concentration camps until they could be handed across to the Soviets for mass execution.

It's amazing how most Americans (especially libs) worship this mass-murderer. The man who brought us the atomic bomb (wish we could put that one back in bag, right?), provoked the Japanese into attacking Pearl Harbor, and rounded up American citizens to be placed in camps. Yeah, sounds like the perfect idol for statists.

The Shadows of Power: The Council on Foreign Relations and the American Decline

Does America have a hidden oligarchy? Is U.S. foreign policy run by a closed shop? What is the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations)? It began in 1921 as a front organization for J.P. Morgan and Company. By World War II it had acquired unrivaled influence on American foreign policy. Hundreds of U.S. government administrators and diplomats have been drawn from its ranks - regardless of which party has occupied the White House. But what does the Council on Foreign Relations stand for? Why do the major media avoid discussing it? What has been its impact on America's past - and what is it planning for the future? Book Review: NewsofIinterest.TV

Chapter 7 - Between Limited Wars

This chapter describes events occurring during the Administrations of Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, explaining how Eisenhower was installed by the Establishment and advanced Communism in the world, the truth about Senator Joe McCarthy, and the truth about Kennedy’s activities in Cuba during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis.

Following are some key points from the chapter:

    — It is explained how the Establishment’s aversion to the popular Robert Taft running for president with MacArthur as Vice President drove the Establishment to run Dwight D. Eisenhower who they completely controlled, due to Taft and MacArthur’s strong genuine anti-Communist stances. Eisenhower was made to appear as being anti-Communist by parroting the rhetoric of Taft and MacArthur, despite his previous activities at the end of World War II such as taking part in the Yalta Agreement, allowing the Soviets to conquer much of Eastern Europe, and authorizing Operation Keelhaul which which sent millions of Soviets back to Russia against their will where many faced harsh retributions and even death.

    — The influence of Joe McCarthy’s anti-communist activities started to decline in 1954, and he was aggressively attacked by the Establishment for the rest of his life for his exposing of Communists in the government, despite his never even attacking the CFR specifically but rather only it’s associated IRP which had a major role in installing Communist China at the end of World War II. It is now established in history that McCarthy did not make any “wild accusations” as he was incorrectly painted as doing by many historians.

    — Eisenhower did much to forward Communism in the world during his administration. In 1955 Eisenhower was the first President to attend a summit with the Soviets, which accomplished nothing but “photos of Eisenhower clinking cocktail glasses with Soviet leaders” which were then used as a tool for demoralizing the captive citizens of Eastern Europe, who hoped they would be liberated by the West. In 1956, the Poles and Hungarians revolted and succeeded in driving out the Soviets, but the U.S. refused to intervene, and thus Soviet rule was bloodily restored and rebellion then died in Europe for many years because they knew the West would not help them. Eisenhower allowed Fidel Castro to transform Cuba into the Soviet’s first outpost in the Western Hemisphere. Castro was then a guest speaker at the CFR, and three years later he had nuclear missiles pointing at the USA.

    — John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960, and he was regarded as somewhat an outsider to the Establishment, but his administration did involve many CFR members.

    — The “Bay of Pigs” invasion in 1961 was an attempt by a group of expatriate Cubans to return to Cuba to liberate it, but Washington intentionally ended the mission in defeat due to the urging of CFR members.

    — The “Cuban Missile Crisis” in October of 1962 was called JFK’s “finest hour,” but the reality is shown to be otherwise. Kennedy made many secret concessions to have Russia remove their missiles, including the U.S. dismantling it’s missiles based in Turkey, England, and Italy with the public being told this was a “coincidence” due to the weapons being obsolete, despite the fact that the Missiles had just become operational. Kennedy also pledged never to attack Cuba again, and anti-Castro militants were rounded up in the U.S. with their guns and boats confiscated. Also Kennedy originally demanded on-site UN inspections of the missile withdrawal, but later backed down and settled only for Moscow’s promise.

    — The chapter closes by stating that Kennedy was never really a true “insider”, and it is “speculated” that he was assasinated for trying to break ranks with the Establishment. McCloy and Allen Dulles— the chairman and former President of the CFR served on the Warren Commission. [Note the book does not contain much information about Kennedy’s assassination.]

And yet so many Americans trust what government says and does? Especially when they told us; 19 hijackers commandeered 4 US airliners with boxcutters, and were able to penetrated the most secured air space in history twelve years ago, go figure?
