Dems prefer: starbucks, jeeps and wendys. Reps prefer: dunkin donuts, bmw and subway

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/...ry?id=16581674

    couple excerpts:
Republicans, for example, are more likely to head to Dunkin' Donuts for their daily cup of Joe, while Democrats are more inclined to get their caffeine fix from Starbucks, according to a study released this week by the neuro-insight firm Buyology.
I'm guessing libertarians are more likely to make it themselves with 2000 dollar coffee making contraption.

When choosing a car, Democrats were more inclined to favor a rugged and adventurous Jeep while Republicans preferred the luxury and sophistication of BMW
I wonder if libertarians are more likely to prefer a pickup truck.

For example Allstate, which was favored by Republicans, has an advertising campaign that centers on fear, telling viewers "Mayhem is everywhere."
Not much else to say about that.

It is a similar story for fast food restaurants. Subway, where you choose every aspect of your sandwich, was the chain of choice for Republicans, a party whose platform revolves around individual freedom.

Democrats, on the other hand, favored Wendy's, which Singer said can be seen as more democratic because they offer pre-fixed solutions to your hunger. It's as if Wendy's is saying, "We've got these answers and you pick which is best for you," Singer said
Well neither of those options are paleo...

Right on about the coffee. I home-roast my own using a hot air popcorn popper that I got for fifteen bucks. It's so much fun, and tastes amazing. If more people knew how easy it is, Dunkin and Starbucks would both have to lower their prices dramatically to compete!
"When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system's game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight, because once they've got you violent then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don't know how to handle is non-violence and humor. "

I get the roasted chicken spinach salad at Subway--that's close.

But yeah, we buy our coffee with bitcoins, grind it ourselves and brew. I hate buying overpriced crappy coffee. And after we move, Kludge is getting a crappy truckster. I have an SUV because I have to cart the baby around. But it's over 13 years old, and I'm keeping it until it dies. I have lots of bondo work to do this summer.

Well, I got Rand started on his campaign (just search around here to see). I advised Thomas Massie before he ran for Congress. I am currently advising 2 liberty campaigns for the state legislature. I ran the war-room and won Minnesota for Ron Paul a few weeks back. There are other things I'm probably forgetting.

Yeah, I thought that was a clever interpretation. But probably has more to do with the value menu. so oyarde used to drive a bmw, interestig...

I do prefer dunkin donuts coffee to starbucks coffee, if I was forced to buy one instead of my usual homebrewed stuff.

Pre-made salads suck though. I had to order one from McDonald's recently and the lettuce was floppy--and their dressing had 9g of carbs in it. Threw that $#@! out. Subway's much better, I can look at the tomatoes and see if they're crappy or not.

Looking at the article, I'd say that I mostly lean Republican, but that I'd like to have both the Jeep and the BMW. M-series please.

How about the price club for workplace coffee? At well under $0.10 per cup (including styrofoam cup $0.015, sugar, creamer, stir sticks, filters, machine, water), coffee can be a free benefit enjoyed by many:

    • 79% of those polled said that access to coffee or tea makes them more productive
    • 76% said that drinking a hot beverage is relaxing
    • 79% said that they feel valued by their employers when they are provided with hot beverages at the workplace
    • 47% said that they appreciate access to free or low-cost coffee provided by their office beverage service
    • 63% said that having hot beverages served at the office allows them to grab a fresh coffee and get back to work, without having to leave the building to get that next kick of energy

    ...

    1. Coffee improves mental performance

That’s right, we all hoped it was the truth and now you can be sure. Drinking coffee doesn’t just help you stay awake – it improves alertness and concentration while delaying mental fatigue. It has also been suggested that coffee will improve your short-term memory.

    2. Improve endurance and stamina in physical exercise

We’ll take any help we can get to make getting back into a regular exercise habit a little easier. Coffee could be the boost we all need to avoid early exhaustion by helping to improve our mentality, and therefore, our ability to exercise longer and harder while getting back into an exercise routine.

    3. Improves socialization

As strange as it sounds, drinking coffee really does improve your ability to socialize. The scientific reasoning for this is coffee-drinking actually reduces stress by eliminating the hormone cortisol, which is responsible for irritability and other everyday stresses. Not only that, but the atmosphere created in coffee houses is carefully manufactured to help eliminate stress and encourage socialization, too.

Best of all, when employers buy, it is an expense and not an employee's after-tax dollar.

Yeah, I hope this was a joke too. This is on the same level as "Somalia: 'libertarian paradise'".

So that's why our office has 2 Keurig machines per floor, 1 cappuccino machine per floor and freshly brewed coffee machines on two floors...

Damn those evil corporations for enslaving you!

Doesn't this just reinforce the stereotype that conservatives are better with their money than liberals?

I don't have a car, but my dream car is a 1972 Chevy Nova. I drink Folgers classic roast with flavored creamer. I always get the philly cheese steak at subway with olives, onions, tomatoes, peppers, swiss or monterey jack, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, ranch and chipotle sauce. Oh and lettuce.

I'm fairly certain that if you referred to that as a philly cheese steak anywhere near philly you might just get your ass kicked.

I like my local Michigan coffee chain Biggbys or I looks through the store for Kona.

IMO the coolest thing I ever drove was a Volvo semitruck.

As for food I like a good sub-shop. I'd rather go to a Blimpie's or Quizno's. Or even better Jimmy John's or get a good italian grinder.

But maybe I lean to the left though because I'm insured by Progressive.

Starbucks coffee is really good, but you should buy it by the bag and make it yourself. They basically charge you an extra $5 to brew the exact same cup of coffee that you can brew yourself.
