"Restrained" Mitt Romney calls for arming rebels in Syria, regime change

    http://www.mittromney.com/news/press...ulais-horrific

“The Assad regime’s massacre of civilians in Haoula—many of them young children—is horrific. After nearly a year and a half of slaughter, it is far past time for the United States to begin to lead and put an end to the Assad regime. President Obama can no longer ignore calls from congressional leaders in both parties to take more assertive steps. The Annan ‘peace’ plan—which President Obama still supports—has merely granted the Assad regime more time to execute its military onslaught. The United States should work with partners to organize and arm Syrian opposition groups so they can defend themselves. The bloodshed in Haoula makes clear that our goal must be a new Syrian government, one that contributes to peace and stability in the Middle East and that truly represents the brave Syrian people.”

I used "restrained" in the title because that's the way Rand supported Romney on foreign policy - that Romney would be "restrained".

This is why I think most people are upset - Rand gave his endorsement to Romney on completely fraudulent grounds - foreign policy, the Fed, and privacy.

This is old, and the circumstances has changed now that more facts have come out about the rebels and that massacre. Try to incite much?

From late May. About a week and a half before Rand's official endorsement. And Rand still calls him "restrained".

I hope it incites some level of anger in someone.

    In other news...

KABUL, 13 June 2012 – Children in Afghanistan continue to be killed and injured as a direct result of the on-going conflict in the country and these incidents are on the increase, according to a global report on Children and Armed Conflict released by the U.N. Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon.

UNICEF is deeply concerned about this trend and repeats its call to all parties to the conflict to ensure that children are protected at all times and in accordance with international humanitarian law.

According to the report, a total of 1,756 children were killed or injured due to the conflict in Afghanistan in 2011, representing an average of 4.8 children killed or injured per day, compared with 1,396 children killed or injured in 2010.

“The death or maiming of a single child is a tragedy. This level of avoidable suffering of children, as is presented in the Secretary General’s report, is simply unacceptable,” said UNICEF Afghanistan Deputy Representative, Vidhya Ganesh. “It is imperative that all parties to the conflict do everything they can, right away, to protect the lives and the basic rights of the children of Afghanistan.”

UNICEF Afghanistan calls on all parties to the conflict to clarify their policies and procedures to minimize civilian casualties, including children, and urges Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and the International Military Forces (IMF) to ensure that adequate, Afghan-owned civilian casualty tracking and mitigation policies are put in place and implemented as soon as possible and with appropriate oversight and accountability mechanisms.

In 2011, 316 children under the age of 18 were reportedly recruited by parties to the conflict in Afghanistan, with the majority of cases attributed to armed opposition groups. Children have been used to conduct suicide attacks, to plant IEDs and to transport provisions to armed groups. UNICEF calls on all armed opposition groups to stop recruitment of those who are under the age of 18 and calls on the Government of Afghanistan to ensure a continued focus on the implementation of the Action Plan to halt and prevent underage recruitment into the Afghan National Security Forces.

    About UNICEF
UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. For more information about UNICEF and its work visit: www.unicef.org

Oh brother. Selling weapons to someone is a whole different ballgame than invading or bombing. It's not as if Romney is calling for troops in Syria as Johnson is in Uganda.

You're being purposefully disingenuous. Never in the history of this country has endorsing someone meant you endorsed or agree with all their views. Otherwise Ron Paul's endorsement of Lamar Smith means he's pro-bailout, and his endorsements of Baldwin/McKinney/Nader means a lot of things.

I oppose Johnson's nonsense in Uganda, too.

Organizing the rebels means we'll have troops on the ground in some fashion.

"The Mitt Romney is Satan" meme isn't based in reality. However, don't vote for the guy because he's not a constitutional candidate certainly.

He might not be Satan, but advocating the murder of innocent civilians all around the world is pretty evil.

And actually, since Satan wants everyone to like him, purely on pragmatic grounds, he'd probably bring the troops home from the Middle East.

    Blah, blah, blah.

They keep saying in the media that something must be done because of the pictures of dead babies. If it is true that something must be done when there are dead babies, then Obama would have to drop a bomb on himself (since that is eventually the solution they come up with). He is responsible for dead babies.

Did we tell Murray Rothbard to eat a dick every time Bush 41 acted on behalf of the globalists? I'm disappointed too... but I just hope Rand mans up and is a thorn in his side in the Senate if he overtakes the Bamster. That's what worries me, if Rand's voting record starts placating the neocons.. the endorsement isn't as big a deal as that.

Murray called both Bush and Clinton bozos, wished he'd see the day where we didn't have people running for president, and his preference of Bush over Clinton was based on foreign policy - the driver of the expansion of the state. He also supported LBJ over Goldwater in 1964 for the same reason.

Rand, on the other hand, endorsed Romney's foreign policy. Not a good comparison. And the way Rand is comparing Romney to libertarianism is extremely dangerous.

You know at first I did not fully understand why our U.S. Military had allied with Al Qaeda to battle against the “rebels” in Libya or why we then left Al Qaeda force to run the show in Libya once those rebel sucker-birds were put down, but now, after reading this it all makes sense now.
