Thread: S. 202 - Audit the Fed Co-Sponsors

What's the argument of the people who don't want to audit the fed? I know Herman Cain mocked it when he was campaigning against Ron but really, how can you oppose just a simple audit of the country's biggest bank?

There are currently four restrictions placed on the GAO when auditing the Fed. The only one that is "controversial" is auditing monetary policy decisions. Bernanke and the other politicians who were/are against a full audit say that if monetary policy decisions are audited, it may compromise the independence of the Fed. We all know this isn't true but it's the only argument they have left.

Just thanked Rubio, and called Nelson's office to ask him to co=-sponsor this bill. Thank you for the heads up.

    Sent this yesterday:

Congressman Hensarling, you were a cosponsor of The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, H.R. 1207, in the 111th Congress.

You now are one of 69 members who are currently AWOL and have yet to cosponsor The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, H.R. 459, in the 112th Congress.

I urge you to cosponsor and support H.R. 459 and to oppose any attempts to water down the bill. I want to make it clear that any attempt to restrict the GAO's audit authority will be seen as a vote against Audit the Fed -- regardless of your vote on final passage.

    Thank you, XXXXX XXXXXX

The irony of that argument is the number of Dems, like Kucinich, who would be in favor of putting the Fed under Treasury if the conditions were right.

Fortunately, Kucinich's "National Emergency Employment Defense (NEED) Act of 2011", a bill that "Replaces Federal Reserve notes with United States Money" was referred to committee with 0% chance of passage. It would have enabled Congress to bypass the Fed/Treasury shell game, to create and spend "United States Money" directly into circulation. It provided criminal and civil penalties for debt money creation through fractional reserve lending, but the money supply would still be deliberately and directly inflated by Treasury, Zimbabwe style.

Here's a summary of that piece of work.

Found the script from.. http://www.auditthefed.com/?mode=actionpage You can create one for your senator from there website or just put your senators name below & in the 3rd paragraph.

    Senator "his or her name"

Now that over $16 trillion have been pledged towards our financial crisis, more people than ever are concerned about where their money is going, and if it's accomplishing anything.

But in the face of an ever-worsening recession, the Federal Reserve refuses to furnish Congress and the American people with records of how the Bank is allotting and spending trillions of bailout dollars. Shrouded in secrecy, the Federal Reserve is a danger to our political process: No one knows where our money is going or what it is doing, and Chairman Bernanke has said that efforts to disclose such information are "counterproductive."

But that's my money they're using, Senator <<NAME>>! $16 trillion! And without any record of how the Federal Reserve is managing and distributing these trillions of taxpayer dollars, there is no way to know if our present course is sustainable or not.

We must know what is happening with our money, and the Federal Reserve must come clean with the American people.

Please cosponsor S 202, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, and do everything in your power to see this bill through to a passing vote.

    Kind Regards,
    Your Name
