Great ending
Let them keep thinking Ron Paul supporters are just a little army. Every military strategy manual in the world has examples of the bad things that happen to arrogant commanders of massive armies that underestimate the enemy. They all lose. We will win because the human heart, despite its detractors, is meant for truth and freedom.
Is this supposed to excuse the dogs that are executed by police?
And when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

I think the correct headline here would be. Cops do their job correctly. News at 10
People, to include the media, often focus on the negative, even when many positive things are happening all around them.
Perhaps this is because it is easier to vilify others, and/or create a news headline ?

The argument that "we only focus on the bad and not the good" falls to pieces when you consider that bad cops are not held accountable for their criminal actions.
If you want to hold up good cops as being the standard of the day, send the bad cops who kill or beat innocent people, steal from people, plant evidence, shoot harmless animals, etc... send those people to jail, then I'll talk

Reading comprehension ?
But yea, around here, as it relates to cops, you seem to be correct ... "only focus on the bad".
This thread is just another testament to a biased mentality.
Most everything is seen in the negative ... Ron Paul being one of few exceptions

Never mind the fact that you always seem to dodge the point of bad cops never being held accountable, you want to know why there are more stories about bad cops than good cops? It's not because the media prefers 'bad cop' stories... they actually love 'good cop' stories, there are just so few good cops.
But again, all of that is irrelevant. You're still clinging onto this "bad apple" way of thinking. If it were an issue of just a few bad apples, the bad apples would be fired or at least disciplined for their criminal actions. However, these bad cops are more likely to get a pat on the back than a slap on the wrist.
When bad cops are not held accountable for their crimes, this is not indicative of a few bad apples, but rather a failed institution.

And there in lies the rub ... I have said bad cops should be held accountable.
I just don't rush to judgement under the premise that most/all of them are bad, and therefore they should all be found guilty before the evidence is known.
I also don't shout the mantra of never call the cops
I'm glad the lady in the video wasn't afraid to call the cops !!
Aren't you ?

Well if you want to counteract what you feel is negative bias towards police, the way to do that is to post positive threads like this one, instead of engaging in threads where the police behavior is clearly egregious and trying to excuse it by saying "Oh those people brought it on themselves". I'm glad the officer in the OP actually followed the "protect and serve" motto that used to be on police cars and may still be on some.
Ultimately there are some things we expect people in certain professions to do and not do. We except the priest - pastor - youth leader - juvenile detention officer ect not to molest the children under their authority. When that happens, and people are upset, that doesn't take away from the countless others in those positions that do not abuse their authority. When someone is understandably angry over abuse of authority, saying "Well there are good fill-in-the-blanks" isn't helpful. I'm not sure what would possess someone to shoot a dotson for barking, or try to "help" rescue a chiwawa mix, and then shoot it because you were careless and it bit you, but that's a person not worthy of the authority granted him. (And that's just people who abuse animals. People who abuse people are a whole other category).
Anyway, good thread. I'll try not to derail it further.

Bull$#@!. Just like AF says... it's not news when a cop is just doing his job. Every day there are good cops out there doing their job; likewise, every day there are bad cops who should be fired or convicted. That is why an organization like Oath Keepers is so important.
I realize it is more than "just a few bad apples" just like I realize the stupidity of "all cops are bad". Hence the need for organizations like Oath Keepers. But again, all of that is irrelevant. Every day there are hundreds of "bad cop" events that go unreported in the news. This is because it's simply not interesting. Whether it's a good cop story, or a bad cop story, if it's not interesting, it's not reported. Whether the cop is good or bad actually has very little to do with it.
In the eyes of the PD, there is no such thing as a "bad cop." The bad cops that do get fired due to public outrage, their fellow cops feel that cop got "screwed by the system." The only bad cop in the eyes of the PD, are the good cops in the eyes of us.I realize it is more that "just a few bad apples" just like I realize the stupidity of "all cops are bad". Hence the need for organizations like Oath Keepers.
So if there is no such thing as a bad cop, how can there be such thing as a good cop?

This. If the majority of cops acted within the laws they've sworn to uphold we wouldn't need threads (or news articles) to remind us that there are still good ones left. I have never once had a positive encounter with police. (Of the dozens of times they've stopped to "protect and serve.") No, it is always to harrass and detain me. To trump up charges, steal my money, try to fight me. To run their hands over my then underage girlfriend's body under the premise that she was hiding drugs, to throw me in the mud, to try to fight me again, to rev their engine to at least 4,000 RPM narrowly not running me over whilst doing 45 mph in a 25 (only to hit a red light). I could go on and on (literally). And I swear to God everything I stated happened. One pig was promoted to Chief of Police not long ago. The other Lieutenant. FTP

During my adolescence, in a medium-sized fairly poor suburb of Houston, I probably ran into cops drunk, sometimes with weed on me, while underage, at least half a dozen times and never went to jail. It was always a call to my parents. I remember once they didn't even call parents. Cops broke up a party once and allowed us to call sober people to take us home. Maybe its just our town, but the cops seem to have better priorities. I can tell stories for hours of buddies who had a sack thrown away rather than being arrested.
Obviously police are in a position to abuse power, and unfortunately in today's society the vast majority of them do, worse yet they get protected from justice by the system and their buddies, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible for their to be good cops. Speaking in such absolutes is quite frankly ignorant.

in all fairness cops doing what they are paid to do is not really news .
and when cops go "above and beyond" and do something heroic it is reported on , i see it on the local news all the time .
im wiling to bet though if there was a way to have an accurate count of the dogs saved by cops vs dogs killed by cops it would not be in favor of the dogs . which is sad .
i have come across just as many good cops as bad in my time , the problem is when you come across the bad it can ruin your life or end it .

this is why there needs to be a "fixation" on those who do bad and are in a position of authoritarian power .
