Sent this to rev pac. Ad idea: "Taste test". What do you all think?

Will you please make this ad?

For material, please check out the videos below.

Now imagine a booth set up with multiple topic choices on a large screen behind the booth like "Guns", "health care", "gun rights", "energy", "bailouts".

Joe Republican steps up to the booth to find out what it's about...

Operator: "Hello, sir, welcome. We've set up an experiment, a philosophical taste test for republicans, to help guage the direction of the party. Which topic on our board here would you say is most important to you?"

    J: "Hmm. Health care."

The operator shows two quotes labeled option A and option B on the screen under health care. Joe doesn't know who the quotes are from, but he's very likely to notice the "options" are nearly identical and both distasteful regarding universal health care.

Operator: "Which of these options would you say you find most attractive?"

J: "What is this? Neither. Where's the republican?"

Operator: "Sorry sir. These might be your only options. Mitt Romney or Barrack Obama.".
The operator reveals the quote source on the screen and pauses to let the info sink in.

In the ad you show a montage of these quotes and reactions, then you show the second part of the experiment.

O: "Well, there is another choice."

    Operator reveals Options A, B, and C.

J: "There. Option C... Who is that?"

O: "Sir, that is Ron Paul."

Operator reveals all three quotes on the screen. The same reveal and reaction for each topic.

    End of ad.

You've been watching those Geico taste test ads, haven't you? LOL. I do like it, though.

I've seen those and I don't like em, but maybe they stuck subconciously. Whatever brought it to mind, Im glad you like the idea. I hope RevPac (or anyone) makes it.

  5. #4
If we put the similarities in the main stream memes we will force the establishment to look upon its own hypocrisy and either change course or knowingly vote for (r) Obama.

  6. #5
I like it... Maybe will have to do it with a little more succinct delivery for a brief ad, but other than that a very effective idea, kind of like those comparison charts, but putting the issues before you even tell who the candidate is, so as to remove preconceived bias.

I give the idea my ringing endorsement.

I like the idea of showing Obama and Romney as the same on policies, because they are. I keep trying new things in my videos, and this would be the first live recording for me to attempt...so I may give it a try for the fun of it.

Haha, haven't seen the Geico taste test ads (gonna look now), but your comment reminded me of my terrible "Ron-On" ads I put together in 2007/08, as a spoof on the "Head-on" commercials:

    nice idea !!
its time for RevPac to make another ad.

Kind of a different venue, but I've been doing this now to get people interested in Ron Paul. Instead of starting with his name, I say, "man, one candidate predicted the housing market collapse and probably could have saved us from this recession." I let them ask who it is, and by then, I've got 'em hooked!

  14. #12
Alright, I tested some green screen shots...gotta work on those though, as transparency was an issue when I was in front of the camera.
Here's another version that I just put together though:

Those Geico ads are absolutely non-sensical and stupid. Car insurance has nothing to do with the taste of some unknown substance. There is absolutely no logical connection that can be drawn between a good-tasting and horrible-tasting substance, and then saying, arbitrarily, that your car insurance is the good-tasting substance. It boggles the mind to think that anyone would actually be convinced by this type of nonsense.

It's like making Geico's slogan "Tastes great!" It makes the average human being look completely retarded, and the retarded look brain-dead.

I only watched one, and it seems to be going the Netflix radio ad style, making no sense on purpose and more of a comedic route; but just keeping the name recognition out there in a difference manner. It doesn't matter if there is a logical connection, it's not supposed to be a logical connection, as the viewers hear "Geico" "Geico" "Geico"...and I think most people probably understand that. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if some think Geico is offering new flavored drinks...

Hey thanks for putting work in. For the style you've got going here may i suggest something like

"Which candidate is most aligned with your beliefs?"

Show a countdown of time left to choose.

Candidate A (show the screen and the quote, but don't show the name yet)

    Candidate B (same as above)

(Now show the two screens next to each other, still unnamed as countdown expires.)

    (reveal the names)

"If you are wondering where to find the Republican philosophy in 2012..."
(close with quote from Ron Paul and reveal his name after a delay for dramatic effect.)

Or not. Either way- Thanks again!

I'd wager that is effective because a lot of people have fallen prey to either the black out or the propoganda so that they will discredit anything, even something they might otherwise agree with, if it is preceded by the name Ron Paul.

I don't know about RevPac's funds. Maybe they could make the ad and then fundraise to air it on the web (first) and tv (second)? Seems like it could be pretty inexpensive if it's filmed using "people on the street".

As for the campaign. These rallies can't be that expensive can they? What am I missing?

People are depleted. RevPac tried that already but failed with their last ad...

Campaign recently sent message that it needs 650,000 Dollars or else by 14.5.2012. They have about$1,640,000 but phone from home, events, delegate training, offices, salaries and other expenses are eating a lot of that.

I think that they will have 1 more ad and that will be it. I have no idea when or about what will it be.

Yup....and you cannot contact anybody at Google by phone. They have no phone customer service options, and literally just flip a switch and kill entire accounts with no explanation. The video I just posted there, is the one that was supposedly "inappropriate", even though the music was created in a sound loop program, and there was no video files in it from a news source...just quotes from the candidates themselves.

I am currently looking for Google's CEOs email and/or phone number....being a multi-billion dollar company with no live customer support is stupid.

  31. #27
Wow, them bowing down to the media outlets about not using their content is one thing (it may be fair use in most cases, but I understand why they'd remove it), but it looks they're truly trying to quash alternative voices...

I guess Google's not even interested in pretending anymore like they're independent from the elite scumbags. It really is inevitable that any media outlet for the people is ultimately going to be co-opted and alternative voices quashed, but whatever, that can't stop us from continuing to co-opt them. What a bunch of BS though..

Looks like it's time to start supporting other alternative video sites, except that not even Youtube could afford enough bandwith to run videos (trust me, it's incredibly expensive).

Wow... Ridiculous. Can you pleade upload the video to Vimeo instead? Also you might want to use the opportunity to expose Google's political censoring practices. Obviously someone over there didn't like the video.
