    Default 5th District - Got a Delegate ?

Saw this post on Daily Paul from "mrsparex" in the Elkin area:

at least one Paul supporter did make it...
and he openly stated he was a Paul supporter prior to the vote. (NC)
If true, that would give us 3 pledged Paul delegates in total, that I'm aware of. Earlier this month we got one in the 11th, and one in the 9th.

CD5 or CD4? Today was CD4 I know. We got 2 alternates to RNC.

Elkin is out west of Winston Salem so I'm assuming it is Dist 5.

I think Dist 10 was held today also, but I don't expect much. That's McHenry's, I don't think we had much organization in that area.

Our results are small beans compared to some of the other states, but sounds like we have made strides since 2008. We only had 1 delegate and a few alternates come out of the districts on that go round.

State Convention, Greensboro. 10 At-Large Delegates. Our Last Stand.

  • #5

    Default Delegates

    District 6- 2 delegates, 1 alternate.
    District 12- 1 delegate, 1 alternate.

Are those in district 6 declared? Or stealth? I'm hearing conflicting info on that.

Oh well it's only a month to state convention and we'll get it all sorted out by then.

Dist 12 sounds plausible. That's where we got our one declared delegate in 2008.

    They are declared.

Im confused. Can someone explain how NC process works? I thought delegates are bound proportionally by the upcoming may 8th primary.

    That is true.

It is possible that we have already exhausted our allotment of national delegates, if Paul does as poorly in the primary as in 2008.

In that year, we had one declared from the district conventions. So we needed 4 more at state convention to make 5 to round out the allotment. (The state GOP re-interpreted party rules to their advantage and swiped two of them off the slate. All we really got was 1 + 2 = 3 total instead of 5).

This year we have at least 5 already confirmed delegates from the district conventions. (2 from the 6th, 1 from the 12th, 1 from the 11th, and 1 from the 9th)

However, the national commiteeman and national committeewoman are also delegates for Tampa, and will be elected at state convention. There will still be something to vote on even if the primary is a bust.
