Romney 2012 vote total comparison with McCain 2008 ?

Is there any comparison of how much total vote and percentage this "frontrunner" and "presumptive nominee" is getting compared to the last time around ?
Probably it could be put into a graphic or a video and spread around to show how foolish GOP is assuming that Romney can beat Obama.
probably add some favorability ratings into it ?

But my assumption is that people supporting Romney have the capability to look at things rationally !

Not quite. He dropped out in early March after Texas.
His name remained on the ballot however, and he siphoned protest votes, much like Santorum is doing now.

Here's some numbers I put together from last Tuesday. It's not formatted very well, but the GOP should be worried.
    McCain Romney Paul
    Delaware 2008 22628 16344 2131
    Delaware 2012 x 16143 3017
    Rhode Island 2008 17480 1181 1777
    Rhode Island 2012 x 9156 3462
    New York 2008 333001 178043 40113
    New York 2012 x 102556 24789
    Conneticut 2008 78836 49891 6287
    Conneticut 2012 x 40263 8013
    Pennsylvania 2008 587210 x 128483
    Pennsylvania 2012 x 464062 105356

Romney couldn't even get the same number of votes in 2012 as he could in 2008 in 3 out of 4 states where he was on the ballot both times. In all the states, Romney couldn't even get the same number of votes as the guy who lost to Obama four years ago. What makes anyone in the GOP think he has a chance of winning the presidential election when even vast swaths of the Republican party aren't even motivated to vote for him in the primary?

And just look at New York. The state will go to Obama anyhow, but less than 2% of the registered voters (total) of New York even bothered to come out yesterday and vote for Romney. A Justin Bieber concert could beat that.
Turning the GOP into a party of liberty will not be a quick race, it will be a marathon.

Great point, nobody is talking about this. RP got maybe 4-5% of the vote in 08, but this time around 14% of the GOP is for Paul. Most of them won't vote for Romney, so where do the MSM and Romney people think they are making that up from? Obama supporters jumping ship? No chance. Ron Paul is THE story this year even though he won't win. Nobody wants to face this reality, so the MSM just keeps trumpteting the idea that Romney has a good chance against OBama.
