Bill Gates has the nerd image, and that isn't going away no matter how much he pays them.
If he really wants to change his image he needs to start working out, optionally get a good plastic surgeon, and then push to make Windows an open source OS. Then he needs to divorce his sick wife, become a Christian and repent of all his "the world is too crowded" nonsense. If he does that his image would really change and I might even start liking the guy.
