Default Oregon E. coli outbreak blamed on raw milk

I have no interest in drinking raw milk myself but since it comes up around here I thought I'd post. In OR, it's legal to sell raw milk at farms but not retail stores (this milk came from farms)

UNDATED -- The number of children sick from a strain of E. coli distributed in Oregon has climbed to 10, with one adult also now sick.

Originally Oregon health officials were investigating four E. coli cases. They said it may be connected to a Clackamas County farm that distributes raw milk.

The Oregon Public Health Division reports that four children under the age of 15 have been diagnosed with E. coli, three of whom have been hospitalized. All four reportedly drank unpasteurized milk from Foundation Farm.

Two of the patients have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. Other customers of the farm have also reported cases of diarrhea and “symptoms typical of E. coli,” the health division said in a press release.

I'm curious, as Wisconsin is going through this debate, what exactly are the issues with raw milk, and how do they compare with pasteurized milk? I can't drink the stuff due to a medical condition (PKU) so I know almost nothing on the topic.

Belief in pasteurization is a superstition that gets people killed. Raw milk is by far the safest food that the CDC keeps track of. It has its own immune system; in most cases, it actually gets healthier with age.
We all know that the media has an agenda and will even resort to telling outright lies. It should not surprise anyone that government agencies and their media lapdogs are blaming a traditionally safe product for a foodborne illness that did not exist before factory farming, just because it could expose the stupidity of commodity scale "food" production.

I tire of the actual discussion because so many people think that they are *The* expert on food safety and that gives them license to be idiots. Whatever. Ignoramuses will continue to bloviate. If you want to get into the details, I can go there. I just don't want to waste any time on people that still have faith in their government supported drug pushers or believe that the government protectionism racket is actual science.
