Sounds like the dude was a roided $#@!.
“One may come to the aid of another being unlawfully arrested, just as he may where one is being assaulted, molested, raped or kidnapped. Thus it is not an offense to liberate one from the unlawful custody of an officer, even though he may have submitted to such custody, without resistance.” (Adams v. State, 121 Ga. 16, 48 S.E. 910).

So this guy killed a lady, 1 cop and shot 4 other cops. Oh, and he killed himself. Didn't the cops shoot at this guy or the lady at all? If not, what did they use the BEATCAT for?

Oh, the likely runner up in the Democratic Primary for governor in NH tried to use this issue as a way to talk bad about some very libertarian/anarchist and liberal types that don't like cops. In the comments, she also came out in favor of the war on drugs. She also mentioned her support for government union workers and how it is wrong to cut their extremely generous benefits. Of course, it backfired for her. Duh! The Union Leader has already called her out on it twice.

Another crazy point, of the 3 Democratic candidates, she is the most liberal. I am not sure why she is trying to upset her anti-war on drugs base or her anti-cop base.

Her is part of her comment:
Tonight was one of those moments where the veil drops and it is clear what this war — and it is a war — is all about.

While the fights in the legislature have gone on over their value, their pensions, their rights to have a voice in jobs, these men and women in blue go about just doing their duty, a duty that sometimes calls upon them to give their full measure.

These are the same men and women who have been called "parasites on the backs of taxpayers." As one of those taxpayers, I give thanks every day knowing they are to perform a vital public safety function.

There will likely be a big show (of) support in the immediate aftermath of this tragedy. But there is no flag waving or atta-boys that will make up for the utter disrespect that these public employees have been subjected to over these past two years. And, still they give us everything they have to give.

Tragedy tears at uncle, mother of Greenland shooting suspect

    By JIM HADDADIN

GREENLAND — When he last saw his nephew, Frank Mutrie didn't perceive anything was troubling the 29-year-old.

It was December, Christmas, and Cullen Mutrie had traveled to Massachusetts to see his uncle Frank, aunt Sheila Mutrie, and their children at the home of Frank Mutrie's daughter.

"He seemed perfectly fine," Frank Mutrie remembered. "He was with his girlfriend, and they behaved normally as far as I'm concerned. I didn't notice any real radical change in his demeanor or his attitude, and as I say, he was pretty happy, at least in my opinion."

Frank Mutrie didn't see his nephew that often, but he did occasionally at holidays, when they would gather at the home of one of Frank's daughters.

Cullen Mutrie, a 260-pound man who was slightly taller than 6 feet, also helped Sheila Mutrie get in and out of her wheelchair and up and down the staircase during the holiday gatherings, he remembered.

"The kids loved Cullen, and Cullen loved them, and he played with them as if they were his own," Frank Mutrie remembered.

Cullen Mutrie grew up in Hampton Falls, according to his uncle. Mutrie was a 2000 graduate of Winnacunnet High School, according to his profile on the social networking website Facebook.

According to Frank Mutrie, Cullen Mutrie was deeply affected by the death of his father approximately two years ago. Frank Mutrie said he checks with Cullen's mother on occasion to ask how the family was coping with the loss, and was told they were "pulling along fine."

A former Hampton Falls firefighter, Mutrie was no stranger to local law enforcement. He was known to possess guns, and Mutrie had been convicted of at least one disorderly conduct charge before Thursday's bloody confrontation.

Mutrie was accused of punching a man at the Gas Light restaurant in Portsmouth in 2006. He was subsequently convicted on a charge of disorderly conduct, and ordered to stay away from the victim and avoid the restaurant for two years.

At the time of last week's shooting, Mutrie was facing a slate of new felony charges stemming from a two-year-old domestic dispute between Mutrie and his then-girlfriend.

Asked if Cullen was prone to fits of anger, Frank Mutrie said, "Not to the extent that this all came about last week." He said his nephew "had a history," but was always kind to his family.

"It's awful," he said. "We're all in a state of shock still, and we feel so badly — we feel terrible for the families and the police chief."

All was quiet at the 517 Post Road home where three people lost their lives and four police officers were wounded last week.

Prosecutors say Mutrie opened fire on members of the Attorney General's Drug Task Force as they attempted to execute a search warrant at his home. Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney was killed, and police later discovered the bodies of Cullen Mutrie and his one-time girlfriend, Brittany Tibbetts, inside the home.

Officials are calling the deaths of Mutrie and Tibbetts, 26, of Berwick, a murder-suicide following an autopsy by the state's chief medical examiner.

Across Greenland and the coastal communities nearby, signs and bouquets have been appearing in honor of Maloney and the other officers.

At a vigil in Newmarket over the weekend, a speaker told the audience Maloney was wounded as he tried to assist another officer who was gunned down first.

"Just about all of us have flowers set out, or a sign of some sort ..." said Renee Panarese, a resident of the Greenland neighborhood that was plunged into disarray last week. "There's a lot of support here. It's a small town."

Panarese said the shooting is disheartening, and although she didn't know Mutrie, the event has had pervasive effects.

"It's definitely an eerie feeling when, you know, you have no control over what's going on around you," she said.

Across the border, in nearby Hampton Falls, Beverly Mutrie, Cullen Mutrie's mother, was also reeling from the tragedy. In brief remarks outside her home, Beverly Mutrie said Tuesday that her son "had a lot of friends," and was a "great person," but declined to discuss the situation.

"It's awful," she said, holding back tears as she approached the door of her country home. "It was nothing I wanted to happen."

N.H. prosecutor wants warrants unsealed in deadly drug raid

By Jim Haddadin / Foster’s Daily Democrat, Dover, N.H.
    Tuesday, April 17, 2012 -

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- The state Attorney General’s office will move to release information today regarding why a drug task force converged on the Greenland home of 29-year-old Cullen Mutrie last week -- a mission that ended with three people dead and four police officers wounded.

Police were executing a search warrant at the home on Post Road last Thursday, April 12, when Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney and four officers were cut down by gunfire.

Prosecutors say after Mutrie opened fire on the group, Chief Maloney died of a bullet wound to the head and two other officers from Rochester and Newmarket suffered serious injuries.

A University of New Hampshire police officer and a member of the Dover Police Department were treated and released from Portsmouth Regional Hospital after they were also struck by bullets.

Police from around the region swarmed the house, and after a brief period of contact with Mutrie, communication ceased, and a tense standoff ensued.

At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, police used a tactical robot to enter the home and detected the bodies of Mutrie and 26-year-old Brittany Tibbetts of Berwick, Maine, who was inside the home when police attempted to execute the search warrant.

In an early-morning news conference on Friday, Attorney General Michael Delaney informed the media that Mutrie and Tibbetts had been found dead. An autopsy performed over the weekend led the medical examiner to rule Tibbetts’ death a homicide and Mutrie’s death a suicide.

Since the chaotic incident, the warrant authorizing police to search Mutrie’s home has remained under seal at Portsmouth Circuit Court, where it was originally granted by a judge before the search.

Also under seal are the documents attached to the search warrant, such as the testimony officers provided to convince a judge there was sufficient evidence to search Mutrie’s home at 517 Post Road.

However, during an interview on Monday, Associate Attorney General Jane Young told Foster’s Daily Democrat she will move to unseal all documents associated with the search warrant today, with the exception of one paragraph contained within the affidavit.

"It’s our intention to move to unseal the documents pertaining to the reason that the police were at the Post Road address Thursday evening," Young said.

The documents will provide a clearer picture of the motives behind the search at Mutrie’s home, which prosecutors have said was connected with a drug investigation.

At the time of the shooting, Mutrie was preparing to face trial on felony steroid possession charges and a simple assault charge. The counts stemmed from a 2010 domestic disturbance at Mutrie’s home.

Young said she will request for one paragraph contained in the affidavit in support of the search warrant be redacted on the grounds that it contains information that could jeopardize a separate, ongoing investigation.

Young said the Attorney General’s office did not request to have the documents attached to the search warrant sealed from public view after the shooting. She declined to comment on the procedure by which they came to be restricted from public access.

"Once this incident happened, we did not go in and seal them," she said.

She also declined to comment on whether the drug task force was carrying more than one warrant when members visited Mutrie’s home on Thursday.

Although the documents related to the search warrant will shed new light on the fatal shootings, it will likely be several more days before some of the most significant information about the investigation is released.

All evidence seized from Mutrie’s house in the wake of Thursday’s carnage was carried away by investigators under the authority of a separate search warrant, which was requested by State Police on Friday.

Young said investigators have not returned the second search warrant to the court.

Under state law, the documents associated with search warrants are presumed to become public documents once the warrant is returned to the courthouse where it was issued.

Young said the crime scene on Post Road was still actively being processed through Sunday evening. It will likely be another week before the information about evidence seized from Mutrie’s home becomes public, she said.

Young declined to comment on the nature of that evidence, and also declined to discuss the nature of the drug task force investigation.

    CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -

Autopsy results show a New Hampshire police chief killed while on a drug raid Thursday died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

State police, the FBI and ATF agents continued to comb the crime scene where Greenland Chief Michael Maloney and four other officers were shot while trying to serve a search warrant at the home of 29-year-old Cullen Mutrie of Post Road in Greenland.

After a tense overnight standoff, Mutrie and a female acquaintance were found dead in the home. Their autopsies are scheduled for Saturday.

Maloney was 48 and scheduled to retire in eight days when he was shot to death.

Two officers remain hospitalized and two were treated and released

Mutrie had charges pending of possession of anabolic steroids.

Something about this STINKS to high heaven. It's absolutely amazing how _little_ factual information is being released about this. Besides being tragic, I suspect there are some aspects that are extremely embarrassing to TPTB, who must be fed their constant diet of hero worship, and we have to listen to all that BS.

They seriously added the worst cop movie cliche ever?
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.

Ah, Ms. Cilley...she's probably upset that she Googled herself and saw there's a thread here about how anti-liberty and, ergo, anti-New Hampshire she is.

    Information?? See Copblock

If you're as frustrated as I am about how they've clammed up on giving out information on this, the posters on copblock reveal some.

If you can see beyond the exchange of innuendo, etc, that is. MUCH more about the Keene PD too.
