I don't think Ron Paul would compare Egypt to the US.

The US has a lot of issues. I'd still rather live here than most anywhere else.

If the US sucks so bad why are you still here?
Only a slave would ask that question. Slaves run and hide instead of fighting.

But if you must know, I've considered moving to Northern Africa. Most immigration into this US has to do with economics, not "freedom." Nobody moves to the US anymore because they like the culture or the system of government.

For instance I talk to my former Mexican neighbors and they live here because they can get a job. They actually complain that there are too many police and too many laws here. That's even with the drug wars going on in Mexico which they blame on the US.

I'm guessing that immigration for financially independent people between places like Egypt & the US is negative in respect to the US, although statistics are hard to come by. I know a lot of people who sort of country hop and have their choice of where to live, and not one of them wants live in the US.

I know plenty of Americans with marketable skills that want to move to Europe or other places, but can't because of immigration laws.

I find that hard to believe. I know a whole community of Egyptians who moved here precisely because they were being discriminated against. One I went to college with.

I wouldn't have moved to Egypt 2 years ago, but I would do it today. One of the things about America & the rest of the world is that the rest of the world seems to be getting more freedom, while the US is getting more tyrannical. In Northern Africa I would move to Tunisia, Egypt, or Morocco. Maybe Algeria. I'd stay clear of Libya because of the aftermath of NATO. I'd love to move to Iraq, but the US and NATO seemed to mess that up too.

BTW, today is Coptic Easter. Happy Easter.

Egypt is a Muslim country. The end.

"Love it or leave it" has gotten pretty threadbare. What about "love it or change it"? Not everyone is inclined to just surrender the country in which they grew up to those who are ruining it.

The fact that the US is better to live in than some places does not mean the situation in the US is acceptable. It's kind of like the way a person can't claim to be healthy just because he has hepatitis instead of brain cancer.

I agree 100%. There are plenty of things wrong with the US and that is why I try to get involved in politics. My post was to furface who seems to believe that Egypt has a better standard of living than the US. And turns out I am right. In the post above he wants to move there... or to Algeria maybe. Hopefully he will post some of his experiences from living there.

What are you drunk? I said most immigration into the US has to do with economics, not "freedom." That was my point which appears to be too nuanced for you, but not lost on other people here.

One of my pet theories is that America has become a breeding ground for stupidity. Crackpot ideas like Zionism and American exceptionalism gain prominence, not because of rationality, but because they make fools feel superior to other people.

You know the ruling party in Egypt appears to be moving towards a group of engineers, doctors, academics, and intellectuals known as the "Muslim Brotherhood" in English. That must scare the hell out of corrupt minds in declining countries like America who fear that reason in politics will start to spread.

When Muslims persecute Christians it's the most important topic ever. When Christians persecute Christians its a "conspiracy theory" that certain people like the OP can't bring themselves to acknowledge.
