I have some questions first though.
Should I buy Canadian silver leaf or bars of them? ( what is the difference from doing that )
How much difference is 1 troy ounce from an ounce?
Is now the right time to buy silver?

I think now is a great time to buy.
1 troy ounce = 1.09714286 ounces
As long as its real silver doesn't much matter what you get. I like to have different stuff so it is interesting and a bit of a collection as well. I just try to stay away from the true collector pieces which carry a large premium over spot price.

They are generally a cheaper way to buy silver than American Silver Eagles or Canadian Maple Leaf. For comparison shopping just know that $1.40 of face value is about equal to 1 troy ounce.
1.0127 troy ounces of silver in 14 silver Roosevelt dime(s).

10 oz bars are great for bigger quanities but I would stock up on smaller pieces first. Get some 90% stuff, some 1 oz coins like ASE and/or CML and maybe even some 1 oz bars. Look for deals, compare cost per oz and get as much as you can for your paper dollars.

What a coincidence, I've listed bars & Maple leafs on ebay just yesterday:

We can even do business outside of ebay/paypal and save a ton of cash. I'll even provide free silver to share in that cost savings!
Check my blog later tonight as I'm going to list more and even some gold.
I recently bought silver apmex 1/2 ounce coins. I paid 1 dollar over spot price for them, so not too bad.
My husband and I debated about whether we should buy the silver coins or if we should just buy old 90% silver coins... I figured if times got rough and our country goes back to silver and gold because the paper dollar is worthless, the average joe might not know what years the old coins were made with 90% silver... (pre-1965), but no one can deny an apmex coin that says ".999 silver 1/2 troy ounce" on it.
I also reasoned that it would be good to have smaller pieces for bartering. Instead of buying a 10 ounce piece, it would probably be wiser to buy 20 half ounce pieces, even though you will pay a little more.
just my 2 cents.

Pretty much anytime is good for getting silver. Apmex has a good rep, and junk silver is readily available online and in your local coin stores.![]()
