plus the Ron Paul table had free donuts for them.
How cliche. Back in the day my VW Pop top had a Bumpersticker, "Bad Cop, No Donut." And I seriously wondered why I got pulled over all the time It was either that or the one that said, "Who are the Grateful Dead and Why do They Keep Following Me?"

Reason #2,042 why I can't run for office.

Dear Slimedia: We hate you utterly. Your days are numbered.

So maybe it would be wise to mingle with the cops before the meeting and explain to them how Roberts rules work and what actions might happen if the Temp chair doesn't follow the rules.
Robert's Rules say that a convention cannot be adjourned with business pending.
The new chairman can carry on the convention as long as a majority of delegates participate.

Risky business, that. Unless I knew them personally or they had a particularly shining reputation for being fair and honest, I would consider this giving away vital information to "the enemy". If you "mingle" and alert them that you have contingency plans if a chair goes awry, they will be marginally better prepared to stop you, which is precisely what you do not want.

Each situation is different, but I advise caution here. We all know how the police are apt to run right off the rails, what with them shooting good people who have called seeking help because they were having a heart attack or what not.

BTW, why are police even present at such events? I take it that they are there by invitation, no?

If the entire room is quiet except for the presiding chair (who is ignoring the member) and the member taking a vote in his place, it's easy to simply listen to the person taking a vote in his place. What effectively happens is the chair, who is behaving out of order, is simply ignored by the members in the room while they vote to remove him.
    EXACTLY!!!

You must say "appeal the ruling of the chair" 3 times, and if you are not recognized after times, then you can essentially do what is described above.
