The primary isn't a straw poll though. 20 of Louisiana's 46 total delegates are awarded proportionately to candidates who receive over 25% of today's primary votes.
Is that a new rule? I was told in 2008 that unless one candidate had at least 50% of the votes it was completely non-binding.
tsai is correct, looking right now like mittens will take 5 and santorum will take 8 out of the 20 up for grabs tonight. remains 7 at large delegates will be uncommitted on the first RNC ballot.
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.
