I'm not sure why you want to rethink gold investment, when this episode clearly showed the great advantage it has : RECYCLABILITY. try that with any other thing you buy, electronics, food, books, tools, clothes, utensils, furniture, cars, building material........
Simply put, much of the gold and silver Im buying at higher than spot price probably was bought for pennies on the dollar by Cash4Gold type operations and melted down and sold to me at a huge profit. There's always a greater fool and it made me wonder, if only for a moment, whether I was that greater fool.
