ok guys, I get it... It's SOCIAL SECURITY

  12. #10
so what are the disadvantages of Social Security.

  13. #11
Well first off your money is stolen from you. It's not optional. The returns on the amount put into SS are much lower than the verge performance of major stock indices over the past 50 years. There is no SS trust fund, it's all treasury bills, the federal government ha already spent all the money that supposed to be saved up. So don't expect it to exist in 30 years.

Oh , you will need the Social Security number if you are going to work any , ordinary job , for any ordinary employer . What is bad about ? They take the money from you , you cannot opt out , your employer as well , will have to kick in the same amount . The money is spent each week . It is not there , if you die , they keep it , you cannot leave it to anyone but a spouse and in order to get yours , they keep what they have paid. At anytime they wish , they can change the age that you can draw it , this is likely to happen , eventually , in order to get what they have stolen from you , you will be in your seventies and will still die before you get it all back and they will keep the remainder . What will they do with these stolen monies ? Various things that you may not approve of , Sesame Street and subsidies for Mango farmers in Pakistan , and universities with shrimp on treadmills .

Everything, it's just another tax. The government takes your money (gives it to who they want now) and promises to give it back to you later........, Why not KEEP your money now and invest it how YOU want??? The government isn't saving and investing this money like a pension fund or 401 (k).

It's against liberty, it's unreliable, it's not secure in it's value when it comes time to draw, it's a huge opportunity for the government to grow and spend frivilously, What
Eduardo said, it's a false sense of security, it's involuntary, you can't opt out, it implies the government is entitled to your labor instead of your family when you pass,
it's taken from you at the times you'd most need the extra money to claw up from the bottom rungs of society if you want to make something for yourself, and government stewardship over the funds is akin to trusting a simian chimp who picks its nose and eats it's own waste to do calculus homework for you.

Wrapped in a package of "the government cares about you, no really."

The key advantage of Social Security is that we get to levy about 16% tax on the poor. The rich are exempt. And you don't hear complaints about it at all because the sheep class can't seem to figure out they are getting raped in the ass. As a bunch of greedy capitalists, can we ask for better than that? The disadvantage is that the premise of taxation leads to total system collapse just like Greece for all countries, but if you're one of the wealthy elite you can make the best of it. Social Security taxes is perfect for people who love a flat tax... its the great "equalizer" in some sense. Your screwed if your rich (but not wealthy elite class) and you're screwed if you're poor. Everyone except for the government class and billionaire class is equally screwed in a flat tax system.

I really enjoyed the " nose picking and waste eating " , I will look at social security like that from here on out.

Question: Can I present myself with other identification papers to apply for a job instead of social security, because I heard I can't get jobs without my social security?

Depends on the job. When I got my last job I didn't have to give my SSN.

Eh. This is tough. The Social Security Number is basically the de facto national identification number. This is the number you file your taxes with, etc. I agree this is all a rip off; but at the same time, without a SSN, you will not be able to file taxes and will not be able to get most jobs. So if you want to stay out of the system, you will have to find a job that pays under the table. But in that case, you do not even need residency or citizenship.

IIRC completion of the citizenship process includes filing for a SS number/card.

True. IMO, this system should be replaced by state/local issued IDs or some other form of ID that is incredibly hard to forge.

I like how the mods added (Social Security) to the title long after the puzzle had been solved.
