There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that can replace the sheer quality of the old slow speed Ektachrome and Kodachrome film.

There are many stunning shots in the collection of just that, Plains farms and homes.

White-hot steel pours like water from a 35-ton electric furnace, Allegheny Ludlum Steel[e] Corp., Brackenridge, Pa. The finest quality steels and alloys are produced in these furnaces, which allow much greater control of temperature than other conversion furnaces. The proportion of electric furnace steel is rising steadily, even though this process is the most expensive. "The furnace is tilted for the pouring." The flying sparks indicate the fluidity of the steel

film will always be more accurate than digital. You can use film and a darkroom to create a million perfect copies of a photo, whereas most digital formats are "lossy".

The slow speed Kodachrome (I've shot as slow as 25 ASA, Kodak made some 8x10 sheets that were 10 speed.) chemical grains are finer than any digital pixel, with a blending and nuance that, IMO, exactly recreates what the human eye sees.

My dad and I took slide shots years ago that still retain their vivid colors and tones.

That's also why I switched back to a tube type amplifier and vinyl.

I am a walking talking MSDS violation. I very seldom used goggles or shield when grinding welds (unless "someone" was watching).
I had one boss that kept a magnet in the first aid kit for just that reason.

I painted for years without a respirator,, can still breath in a low oxygen environment.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

And yes, I am aware of the irony of decrying digital photo reproduction while viewing...digital photo reproductions.

These do not do the original slides justice.

To see the original film is stunning.

    ow Ow OW!!!!

First time I welded without eye shielding, I regretted it at 0300 when I woke up with what felt like a fistful of tiny razor blades in each eye.

That is neat, I have never sailed the Lakes, but I'd like to.

I may get a chance this summer.

This vessel I have sailed, used to make Lakes runs, but by the time I worked her, she was done there.
