Last I checked the straw poll didn't actually do anything in the selection process unless the delegates voted to be bound to it.

Regardless early sings say it'll be all Romney which will likely be the same as the Pop vote anyway

It should be noted that Illinois has 12 UNBOUND delegates up for grabs at the state convention later on. We should make every effort to organize and capture those delegates.

Also to note, Louisiana's caucus will convine early in June with 23 delegates up for grabs. Another excellent chance to gain some ground.

Going off of your numbers and the contests left correct me if I have this wrong.

Romney has 505 delegates off your estimate.

Of the contests remaining 1099 Delegates are left to be determined.

Romney still needs 640 to win 1144.

Going off of this Romney needs about 58% of the remaining delegates to clinch 1144.

    Are all of these correct?

    You're forgetting the unbound delegates.

Unbound is not a person, so Romney could get a sizable chunk from the pool of 217 which would in turn require him to get a much smaller number of the remaining contest delegates.

This is where we come in. If we can keep him from getting, say, more than 30% of the unbound delegates, this helps immensely in keeping him from 1144. If, on the other hand, he wins over 60% and walks away adding another 150 delegates to his total, its very likely he will win on the first ballot.
