A prosecutor has dropped a criminal charge against a New Hampshire man who helped catch a suspected burglar by firing his gun into the ground.

Sixty-one-year-old Dennis Fleming of Farmington was charged Saturday with reckless conduct for firing his gun in a residential area. No one was hurt.

Fleming arrived home to find his house had been burglarized. Police say he spotted 27-year-old Joseph Hebert climbing out the window of a neighbor’s home. Fleming yelled “Freeze!’’ and discharged his .38 caliber handgun into the ground near Hebert. He held him at gunpoint until police arrived. Hebert was charged with burglary and drug possession.

Congrats, by spamming EVERY thread you have knocked the thread you wanted to call attention to off the first page. What put the idea into your head that spamming was a good idea?

Glad there is still some resemblance of common sense left in some areas of America.

Obviously he doesn't want Paul to win Washington, so he's sliding it down the topic list.
Let them keep thinking Ron Paul supporters are just a little army. Every military strategy manual in the world has examples of the bad things that happen to arrogant commanders of massive armies that underestimate the enemy. They all lose. We will win because the human heart, despite its detractors, is meant for truth and freedom.

Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

I agree it was very responsible, if you ask me. It got the burglar's attention, now didn't it! If cops would have showed up, their warning shot would have been a bullet to the burglar's head!

Directly from the Office of Indoctrination at the Ministry of Subjugation:
Guns are deadly weapons used most often by criminals. If you use one in defense of property or person, you add instability to the conflict. You may escalate the violence when it did not need to be escalated. Imprudent actions can lead to death. Not just the criminal's life is threatened, but the officer who pursues him and even your own life is put in harm's way.

As citizens, you may not be adequately trained in the safe use of firearms. You may take a training course or two, but the rigorous training that our officers go through prepares them to better handle and diffuse deadly confrontations before they become deadly, and end them quickly when conflicts escalate to the point of endangering innocent lives.

We really don't need you making our job more difficult by owning a firearm and using it. In some cases that constitutes recklessness. Don't try to stop the criminal yourself, that's our job. Your job is to pay taxes.

Thank you for your cooperation, good citizen.

    I agree totally.
AF, probably a slip of the tongue... but this is not justice.
    This isn't even amends.
I have zero doubt that the prosecutor dropped the case because of public outcry, and not because he suddenly discovered injustice happening in his jurisdiction.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.
