    thats what i meant. on my last ak47, it took 20 minutes to swap out the wooden hand guard for a railed one. seems pretty "modular" to me... (for a 400$ or less rifle)

    Essentially - also trying to make mag changes less of a pain / higher capacity so not as frequent changes. The idea is to try to have a competitive infantry rifle with same capabilities as Colt / HK / FN / SIG products.

    If you want to see where small arms are, look at who the Russians copy. The AK-47 was a modified copy of the German StG 44, while this AK is modifying the upper off of the western arms makers designs.
