    Alternatives to the Internet?

    http://wiki.daviddarts.com/PirateBox_DIY

This project is geared mainly towards file sharing, but could it be repurposed for a small, isolated network. Maybe for a rural community to use, in case the internet were to go down or be censored?

There's also https://freenetproject.org/, but it depends on an internet connection to work. Piratebox doesn't, from what I understand.
Anyhow, I'm going to try to make one. I'll post it here if it works. Waiting on different parts.

The proper concern of society is the preservation of individual freedom; the proper concern of the individual is the harmony of society.

We don't really need an alternative. TCP/IP is a fine way to network computers together.
