Default How do people feel about Rand?

After watching the Cpac speech today, I was just wondering how people felt overall about Rand Paul

GOP trojan horse, not quite as pure as his father but still with a heart of gold.

How does Ron stay so calm?

As long as he is a counter-weight to Rubio, I'll be happy with Rand. I think Rand and Rubio exemplify the split within the GOP among the younger generation of elected officials in Congress. I think Rubio is establishment hawk and he is not tea-partier. All I had to see was Rubio at RJC where he was just talking about Isreal etc...and I knew he was a sell out.

Rand is the real deal. He's only been in Congress for a year. He opposed the Patriot Act, Debt Ceiling increase, and the intervention in Libya..all positive trends. My only concern is on energy, I think Rand criticised Obama on the Keystone Pipeline. I don't support that one bit.

    2012: Ron Paul revolution

    2016: Rand Paul revolution
"The average person figures that the president tells the truth, the vice president tells the truth, the secretary of state tell the truth; and they don't. They don't. The founders understood that people would be flawed, that political leaders would not be the best of men … so they set forth the constitution. We don't follow the constitution in this country; had we done so in 2001 and 2002, the world would be a different place" - Karen Kwiatkowski

My nickname for Rand is "Ambien Paul"... he puts me to sleep
“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Rand Paul is a much better speaker than Ron. As much as I hate the idea of somebody's appearance affecting their "electability," Rand is young, good looking guy. When he speaks he has much more passion in his voice. I think he connects with people very well. Ron Paul is an intellectual powerhouse and probably the most consistent congressman ever, but a lot of (stupid) people vote based on things that really don't matter (looks, tone of voice, overall personality)

Why shouldn't Rand support a free market in energy?

i'm pretty sure it would be a rand paul evolution. Seeing as he works in increments and his father works in giant steps.

A conversation I had this weekend with an older woman (who was a stranger to me)

Woman: I like Ron Paul, but I just can't get past that foreign policy.
Me: Oh? You don't like a strong foreign policy?
    Woman: Well, I do, but I don't think that's what he's offering
Me (picking up campaign literature on 'Restore America Plan' & 'Strong.Secure.Respected'): I hope you would take a look at this. There's a lot off bad information out there, but actually Ron Paul is offering a strong & wise foreign policy that our founders and even George Bush advised. His budget plan cuts $1 Trillion without cutting one cent from seniors, veterans, or national defense.
Woman (refusing to take the literature from my hand): I've heard & read all I need to know about Ron Paul, and his foreign policy is dangerous. But, you know, I wouldn't mind seeing his son, Rand Paul, run; I really do like him.
Me (confused): But Rand Paul has the same foreign policy as Ron Paul.?...
Woman: Yeah, but he's a little more polished, and presents himself better.
Me: Oh. So you don't have a problem with Ron Paul's foreign policy, you just have a problem with his appearance. (dissapointed) That's terrible.
Woman: Now, I didn't mean it that way...
Me: I don't know how else to take it...(shrugging), I wish you'd reconsider, because it sounds like you're letting the liberal media influence your pick. I would hate for that to happen.
Woman: Well, I'm not going to vote for Ron Paul. walks away
