Wow it only costs him $80 to insure two vehicles?! I pay $300/month to insure one!
Insurance is great when it's used appropriately, as a way to mitigate risk. If you have any sizable amount of assets, or plan to accumulate them in the next few years, you would be a fool to drive without insurance. One accident could cost you everything you have. I think it's a good idea to require people to get insurance before they engage in activities that have a high chance of causing property damage or injury.
This comment summed it up :" "I have a problem with auto insurance"? You idiot, if you run into me and cause $250K of medical bills who is going to pay? So you don't mind if I confiscate your house and garnish your wages for the next 50 years? What an idiot..."

"No matter how noble you try to make it, your good intentions will not compensate for the mistakes that people make; that want to run our lives and run the economy, and reject the principles of private property and making up our own decisions for ourselves." - Ron Paul
Mandatory insurance is an institution of fascism, and a subsidy from owners of modest vehicles to those who own more expensive ones.
As a very careful driver who manages my own risk I highly resent having to share risk with people who talk on their phones or text or otherwise distract themselves while driving. I fully support their freedom to do those things as long as I'm not paying for it. The solution is not then to restrict their freedom, but to not force me to bear the burden of another's willingly taken risk.
I feel very similar about health insurance. Why am I forced to share risk with hypochondriacs, pill-poppers, and bug chasers? It's obscene and offensive to force me to pay for these things.
“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
- SAMUEL ADAMS
I have a problem with State mandated insurance - voluntary insurance can be awesome.
I have a ton of things wrong with me that I'd like to get checked out but don't because I don't want to pay the mega expensive bills that I'd wrack up just because the Doctor sends you out for every expensive (and overpriced) test under the sun. Every part of a doctors exam is set up for people with insurance.
My wife used to work for an insurance company and they had a schedule of payment percentages that they would pay a Hospital. The insurance company never paid the full amount that the hospital charged.
I think that it's obscene that an insurance company pays less for a doctor than a person who is uninsured.
If there was no insurance, things would be a lot cheaper.

I have never paid for medical nor dental insurance and maintained just the legal limit on my vehicles. I don't want to know that I'll be taken care of as much as I want to be free even if that means assuming responsibility.

I should be able to 'opt out' of any insurance mandated by the gov't (state or federal).

Rand can win in 2016 only after the security guards will listen to us rather than the establishment hacks and only after we are able to ensure that the rules are followed and the votes accurately tallied.
