SOPA and PIPA are gone, but now there's two more bills

I posted this to my facebook.

Sopa and Pipa are gone! We won!! Not so fast. The government has introduced 2 more bills, one of which is an "international" agreement that essential do the same thing, or worse!

The new ones are called the ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) and the Protect Children from Online Pornographers Act.

Now don't let them kid you into think that last one is actually about Child Pornography. That last one as I understand it requires internet services providers to track your online history and provide it to the government without warrant. Of course they are going to play this one to it's name and say that anyone who is against this bill support child pornography...

So we can't just stop here with SOPA and PIPA, we need to vote these idiots OUT of office and put an end to these bought politicians!

Please do your own research on these two bills and the impact they will make on our liberties.

I think the game Whack-a-Mole was invented by some government goon.

They know they are losing the power of mass corporate control to the internet. They will continue to swing wildly in any direction out of fear.

How is anyone going to vote against the Protecting Children one? Goddamnit they are so good at manipulation with names.

Ron Paul needs to speak out against ACTA, the stuff about generic drugs and GMOs is especially frightening in addition to the internet issues. I mean this is huge, he needs to blow the gates open and get people angry at the government. This is the stuff that makes liberals think twice about big government.

The issue is too many people honestly believe Obama is committed to protecting Net Neutrality, but believe congress could overturn his vetoes.

And as a producer of hentai, I am very worried about the stupid Child Pornography bill. I will have a family to feed, and I don't need the government staring down my throat trying to figure out whether my character is "underage" or not!

    Remember!

Our enemies are intelegent and resourceful and they never stop thinking of new ways to hurt our people, and neither does our government.

ACTA isn't new and the United States signed it last year.

You know what I think? I think we need a Constitutional Amendment guaranteeing our Innocence Until Proven Guilty way of thinking. It seems to me that most laws like this, SOPA to the Patriot Act all operate on one premise: GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT.

    http://www.usconstitution.net/constnot.html#innocent

    Innocent Until Proven Guilty

First, it should be pointed out that if you did it, you're guilty, no matter what. So you're not innocent unless you're truly innocent. However, our system presumes innocence, which means that legally speaking, even the obviously guilty are treated as though they are innocent, until they are proven otherwise.

The concept of the presumption of innocence is one of the most basic in our system of justice. However, in so many words, it is not codified in the text of the Constitution. This basic right comes to us, like many things, from English jurisprudence, and has been a part of that system for so long, that it is considered common law. The concept is embodied in several provisions of the Constitution, however, such as the right to remain silent and the right to a jury.

The FAILURE of the United States Government to operate and maintain an
Honest Money System , which frees the ordinary man from the clutches of the money manipulators, is the single largest contributing factor to the World's current Economic Crisis.

According to Ron Paul, we need more leaders in Washington to adopt his style of governing.

    Dear Fellow Texan,

As you know, America faces tremendous problems. I have dedicated my career to fight for solutions, but I need friends in Congress who will help and work with me in these critical times.

That is why I am grateful for the friendship of Congressman Lamar Smith. Lamar Smith is a thoughtful, intelligent leader who keeps his door open to me and is always willing to listen. As the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, Rep. Smith's word carries a lot of weight on Capitol Hill and I am glad to see he fights to take principled stands on important issues like Healthcare and Cap and Trade.

Congressman Smith made a point of reading both of my recent books, The Revolution: A Manifesto and End the Fed and I enjoyed our discussion. True intellectual exchange has become all too rare in Washington and I appreciated his effort.

Lamar is also one of the true gentlemen in Congress. I value Congressman Smith's thoughtful approach and consider him a true friend. If more leaders in Washington adopted his style of governing, I know we could break down a lot of barriers.

I am proud of my friendship with Lamar Smith. I hope you will consider supporting him in his bid for re-election.

    In Liberty,

    Ron Paul

Thankfully there is somebody challenging Lamar Smith.

His name is Sheriff Richard Mack: Oathkeeper, Constitutionalist and Ron Paul supporter.

Take a little time to help him out by nominating him for funding.

Yeah, well - that doesn't mean *I* have to support that fascist pig [Lamar]. I doubt Ron Paul will after SOPA and this POS bill too!

Richard Mack is hopefully running against him. Let's get Lamar primaried!

that was in 2010 (and even Ron makes mistakes once in a while); Lamar Smith is a Romney supporter today.

Any new bills will be met the same way, with only bigger participation. History was made with SOPA and PIPA: The first internet protest /strike which stopped a highly organized, very powerful special interest group cold.

I have never seen politicians scatter so fast.

I do not think people actually realize the importance of this event.

Wow. A lot of good his friendship did for Ron. At least we know Ron is capable of playing politics now.

ACTA isn't new. Unfortunately I have trouble believing as many people are going to be up in arms about this.. It's at least three years old, and I hadn't even heard about it until yesterday when a friend of mine who actually isn't politically active at all posted about it on the forum of a web-based game.

Have to get the word out. Haven't seen anyone say diddly squat about it on Facebook, which was and still is filled with SOPA rage.
