    Wealth Inequality :/

So I was watching The Ed Show on MSNBC and he was going on and on about "wealth inequality" and how wrong it is in America.

What kind of left-wing socialist filth is this?

Millions upon millions of people have died under socialist governments and in reality we were at war with socialist/communist nations for decades. Even now so, two of our biggest rivals are socialist China and North Korea.

It was Nikita Khrushchev who said "We cant expect the American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find they have Communism."

    What is going on here?

I'm not a bit worried about radical islam or the "terrorists". I'm worried about the socialists.

They fail to see that the inequality really only exists because the government is involved. Those super super rich people are the ones in bed with the feds. If that wasn't possible the divide would be much smaller.
I am more and more convinced that man is a dangerous creature and that power, whether vested in many or a few, is ever grasping, and like the grave, cries, 'Give, give.'

    Liberals confuse poverty with equality.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Massive, deep wealth inequality (as we have today) is unnatural and would not happen if it wasn't for government. Reminds of monopolies - virtually impossible without government intervention.

Indeed. This is an issue which I think too many libertarians just blindly associate with socialism and fail to educate the folks about the actual issues here. Most people when they bring it up aren't Communistic egalitarians who want everyone to make the same amount of money, they just feel that it is wrong for someone to own billions and others have nothing. You can get a lot of these folks on your side and the side of libertarianism because such inequalities we have today like baghdadi said is unnatural and a result of the State, either in the form of monopolies, subsidies, privileges, immunities, or entreprenuerial impediments (regulations) which destroy competition.

In the marketplace wealth inequalities aren't that bad as it is very difficult for people to become truly rich due to competition either in labor or from other firms.

And it only gets worse when you have people like Romney say $#@! like "Only Rich People Should Run For Office". I made a thread on that topic specifically, video included.

Would this quote be appropriate for this thread?

Gordon Gekko: The richest one percent of this country owns half our country's wealth, five trillion dollars. One third of that comes from hard work, two thirds comes from inheritance, interest on interest accumulating to widows and idiot sons and what I do, stock and real estate speculation. It's bull$#@!. You got ninety percent of the American public out there with little or no net worth. I create nothing. I own. We make the rules, pal. The news, war, peace, famine, upheaval, the price per paper clip. We pick that rabbit out of the hat while everybody sits out there wondering how the hell we did it. Now you're not naive enough to think we're living in a democracy, are you buddy? It's the free market. And you're a part of it. You've got that killer instinct. Stick around pal, I've still got a lot to teach you.

The best way I know of to help people see how socialism leads to more wealth inequality than pure capitalism does is to have them read Animal Farm. No one laid it out better than Orwell.
