    Outsourcing or Offshoring of Jobs

What is Ron Paul's stance on Offshoring or Outsourcing work? I think this should be a major issue that is talked about this election. Jobs are one of the main things Americans are worried about. We want good jobs back in America.

There is no one running that is going to protect American jobs, no one. Ron Paul comes the closest by lowering the tax rate and allowing companies to return offshore funds to the USA without any tax penalty. Pat Buchanan was the last candidate that was an isolationist and was going to protect American jobs, the media called him a Nazi and the sheeple believed them. Too bad for us, Pat would have helped us a lot and we wouldn't be in the mess we are today if he was elected in 2000 instead of Bush.

I think the media is to blame for the reason this topic is not brought up during debates or in news. Also, free trade agreements should be discussed on what they are doing to American jobs.

I'm unsure if Paul would support using government force to protect richer Americans against poorer people in third world countries. He certainly is against most tariffs at least. And rightly so, because protectionism is horribly immoral, reduces competition and creates inefficient industries.

Isn't offshoring nowadays almost more about not having to deal with all these taxes and regulations than it is about cost savings?

Taxes and regulations would be costs but labor costs are the most expensive ones.

Don't unions use government labor laws to coerce companies into paying employees more than what they'd be willing to pay in the free market?

What you say is true but I believe (hope) he would consider all variables and not limit himself. Absolute free trade in a world market has a slow but equalizing effect on the trading economies unless the greater economy maintains an environment where business can flourish. (We don't have that) Innovation and development will keep the greater economy ahead of the curve unless it's preyed upon and forced to leave. With no tariff on imports, in an over taxed environment, Business has to take the most efficient labor to compete. Unions are obviously the first to go.

    re

The problem with Free trade is that workers have to compete globally and if countries have no morals we are competing with slave labor wages and child labor. That is a real issue. Teriffs are a means to combat this issue. With a Free Market how do we insure that we have a fair labor market where workers in America can make a living? This practice of Free Trade has helped destroy the middle class.

Ok lets not get ahead of ourselves and call pat an isolationist. Pat was for free trade w/ Reagan, but changed his position and advocated for the the rightful return of American Sovereignty, which has been eroded gradually starting with GATT and ending in the WTO. There is nothing wrong with uniformly applying tariffs to american goods, as long as the are in compliance with the constitution.

Free trade is an abstract idea. Constitutionally enforced, uniform tariffs are NOT unreasonable given a direct threat to a wide cross section to american industry. The whole idea of free trade falls apart pragmatically when confronted with political reality. It would be very difficult for a legislator to vote against increasing tariffs on American exports if a foreign competitor decides they wanna flood the American market with cheap, garbage goods. In order to get as close to free trade as possible, it is necessary to have the authority to impose tariffs on foreign countries who impose it on us. In our present case, the congress no longer has that power, as it has been stripped by the institutions of the NWO.

Yeah and we have to then pay more for stuff at the store when we're already struggling due to inflation, so you can go fight the 'NWO' at the consumers' expense. I recommend you read some Austrian economics and move away from the uber-nationalist Alex Jones type stuff. Half of his views are actually socialist, but he's a zealous nationalist so it's almost like fascism.

OK, maybe I was wrong about Pat being a isolationist. Fair trade is indeed better than the unfair trade we have today. I hope Ron will see it that way too. Either way he is the only one running that would give us a fighting chance to have peace, liberty, and prosperity again in America.

If Ron Paul takes us back to sound money, there will be no worry about offshoring, labor will naturally come back to the US. Offshoring is a byproduct of our inflationary printing press.

With the world's reserve currency, we can print huge sums of money and clean up on foreign goods. This has the effect of exporting inflation with it seemingly not showing up here at home. But it did and does show up here in the price of our labor which is went sky high and is why we no longer manufacture much like we used to. Service labor is hard to import because of distance and language, so we pay the extra price there(though India has adjusted even for some of those) and our country was able to mask a lot of the inflation by opening up our southern boarder to millions of workers who are willing to work for low wages.

These unsustainable cheap goods are going to be hard to give up, but it will come because most countries are getting wise to our theft with using the printing press. China and Japan now are going to trade with each other without dollars. Brazil put a 30% tariff on the American dollar to keep us from printing and buying up their country. More will come.

Not many know about this effect of inflation where you can export it to others.

Pat certainly is an isolationist - and I think even he would agree with that. Three major things necessary for isolationism:

    - Non-interventionism
    - High tariffs
    - Restrictive immigration

Paul fits the first one only, Buchanan all three with flying colours.
